Letter from the Director
Dear North Families & Friends,
We hope this virtual choir show finds you and your loved ones in good health! We are so happy to be able to share this collection of ensemble and solo-work pieces with you all. This album will feature one collaborative ensemble piece, "Rise Up," where all of the students learned their separate voice parts and recorded them into Soundtrap to resemble what it feels and sounds like to be singing in community again. The remainder of solo-work pieces were selected and performed by the students to showcase their individual voices and artistry.
Since we knew that this semester was going to continue to be challenging for us vocally with us still not being able to sing together in-person, we decided to shift our gears and focus more on the individual voice and artistry. We invited a professional singer and voice teacher, Lorena Perry, to lead workshops on vocal anatomy, vocal health, and private voice lessons to give us a deeper and more personal understanding of our instrument. We learned so much from her and worked hard to implement what we learned into our individual voices.
In reassessing what choir is all about in the virtual setting, we also came to realize just how important our community was and worked hard to keep us all engaged, communicative, and connected throughout this challenging time.
This virtual show is organized in the platform, Bookcreator. In this format, you are able to go at your own pace and explore each page of music when it best fits your schedule. The students put a lot of time and creative energy into making this virtual show come to life for you! We hope you enjoy!
