The day was the 24th of December, Christmas Eve. He had an overnight fencing competition the last 2 days. Bob was hurrying back home, holding a secretly packed present for all of his family members. He knitted a handkerchief for his mother, a mask for his dad because the air quality was so bad where he worked, and a yo-yo for his older brother. He was excited meet his family soon and also wanted to rest himself from the tiredness. It was already something like 11pm, so he opened the door carefully, making no sound. Bob placed his gifts under the Christmas tree and secretly snuck up to his room because he came home a day early so that he could plan a surprise for his family.
The world was white outside the window. Kids were running around outside with their big smiles. Bob flung out of bed and sprinted down the stairs. However, something was different. There was no smell of Christmas cookies, no
sound of his brother playing the video game, and even no sound of his dad snoring. Bob knew something was wrong, so he searched around the house, and entered every room. Nobody was at home. Bob called his parents’ phone, but nobody answered. And he asked everyone in the neighborhood if they’d seen his family. Everyone would just say either “I’ve not seen them” or “I’ll tell you later if I ever see them today.” After he was done going around places to find his family, it was midnight. He sucked up his tears and sat beside the Christmas tree. He stared at the presents and sobbed the entire night.
Bob had repeated the same pattern for a week now. He had been taking the presents with him whenever he went out because it represented his family and he felt a strong feeling of luck in the objects. On the 11th day, he woke up and felt a bit different from the other days.

It was a sunny, but gloomy Sunday morning on December, exactly 11 days after he had lost his family. He stared at the endless sky and could spot nothing but a few pieces of cloud. looking down at his windows, there were nothing but skeletal branches shivering from the blast of wind. closing his eyes, Bob tried to get back to sleep before starting another long day. He thought that finding his family was the most important thing he had to do. As soon as his head hit the pillow, a small sound of the joyful ice-cream truck was heard. Something was strange. It was the winter and apparently, the ice cream truck only comes during the summer holidays.. He shot up and ran out, picked up the 3 presents like usual, and slammed the door behind him. The truck was further then he thought it was. When he was finally there, he collapsed. He stuffed his hands inside his pocket and shuffled it around to find his money. As he realized it wasn’t inside his right pocket, he went for the left. Nothing was there. As he stood up, feeling hopeless, a long shadow formed around him. Bob tilted his head upwards and got a view of a tall men towering his mask covered face.
He held up a 3 layered ice cream and pointed it towards Bob.
“Is this what you want?”
“Uhhh… Yeah?”
Bob was confused. Why was this man offering him an ice cream that obviously cost more then any other menus in the truck? This probably wasn’t free, he thought.
“Of course, not for free. You have to do me a favor after finishing the cone.”
And yes, there was something behind his kindness.
“What should I do for you?” Bob questioned. “Is It something that requires money? Because obviously....” Bob didn’t understand what he was doing. He was doing all this just for an ice cream when he still had his family he had to find.
“No, all you have to do for me is just finding a book and returning that to me.”
Bob thought for a moment. Taking a book from somewhere wouldn’t be too hard. He stared at his ice cream and for 10 minutes, they were silent. As he had the last bite on his ice-cream, he could see the tall men was preparing something. The man’s mask that covered his whole face started to lighten. When it was completely transparent, Bob yelped.

This person had 7 eyes and 3 mouths! Before the man could do anything, bob dashed to the dark woods.
