Dear Parents and Students,
We should revive our relationship with the omnipotent, reflect and introspect on our relationship with others at regular intervals. This keeps our life on track and enables smooth sailing. The Assisians had a fun-filled thought-provoking “REFLECTION DAY” – (Page 4), to rejuvenate their spirits. The sacrifices of great freedom fighters and incidents from freedom struggle instilled in our students the spirit of Nationalism as Assisi joined the Nation to celebrate 75th Independence Day, “LIVE AS RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS OF THE COUNTRY” –(page 5). Our students got a chance to mingle with Interactors from across the globe as they participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards programme organised by Rotary Cochin East jointly with Rotary Club of Nasik Grape City, “RYLAx 21 – International RYLA for Interactors” – (page 6). “PANORAMA” – (page 7)the Inter-House Quiz Competition saw the students donning various roles from Quiz Master to Time Keeper. The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and branded as Tokyo 2020 was an international multi-sport event held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. Our Physical Education Department kept the spirit of the Olympics alive in our school. The mammoth response from the students to "CITIUS, ALTIUS, FORTIUS, CRAFT CHALLENGE” – (Page 8), was extremely encouraging. The “ONAPPOLIMA” – (Page 9), gave a reminiscence of the good old days of Onam celebrations. To make the Assisi MUNners well versed in various terminologies used in Model United Nations, “AMUN - VIRTUAL QUIZ TIME” – (Page 10), was conducted by the coordinators of Assisi MUN. The students were given awareness of the danger of various addictions and how to protect themselves and the members of one’s peer group through a session by Mr. Shibin Shaji Varghese, District Coordinator of DREAM Kochi, “BIDDING FAREWELL TO DEADLY ADDICTIONS...” (Page 11). “THE A TO Z OF MUN - WEB SERIES II” – (Page 12), was the effort of Assisi MUN teacher coordinators and they roped in Ms. Rachana Rashmi Rammohan, an acclaimed MUNner, to do web series II. The Orientation Programme threw light on SAFAL Examination by CBSE for classes III, V and VIII, Mastery Assessment Programme to generate curiosity in students for Mathematics and Science; subjects which are filled with wonders. Classes X and XII were briefed about the special scheme of assessment introduced by CBSE. The Open House was conducted for classes I-XII and the rapport developed between teachers and parents helped to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the students and adopt remedial measures to rectify the same. Our students participated in CBSE initiatives like Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The students who participated in Kidex National All Rounder Championship got a self-accomplishing experience by doing things which they have never dreamt about and won certificates and medals for the same. The talent hunt continues unleashing hidden potentials in our students. Our budding artists, writers and reporters keep publishing their work on the Times of India web edition for students. Good initiative, keep going, dear students! Also, get acquainted with the new PTA brigade.
Best regards,
Suma Paul

REFLECTION DAY
“The most important time in the world is the time you make for yourself.” Assisians planned a day of reflection for all the students to revive their spiritual life. ‘Reflection Day’ 2021-2022 for classes I-VIII was held on 2 August, 2021 and for classes IX-XII on 3 August, 2021 at different timings on a virtual platform.
Classes I and II children were introduced to values of Obedience and Respect, presented through story mode. The children reflected on the moral of the Story. Classes III to V were introduced to a story ‘Believe in Yourself’. This was followed by the Action Song where the kids joined in the fun and set the floor on fire virtually. Rev. Fr. Yesudas Pazhampilly was the Guest Speaker for Classes VI to XII. The event was attended by our Principal, Ms. Suma Paul, teachers and students from the Middle School and Higher Secondary section. Fr. Yesudas Pazhampilly began his talk by asking us numerous questions regarding the values and morals of life. By citing instances from his life and sharing some motivational stories, he conveyed to us the spirit of the day. The day of reflection helped all the teachers and students to commence a new journey of spiritual life.
LIVE AS RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS OF THE COUNTRY
We celebrated the 75th Independence Day through the online platform, on Friday, 13 August. The programme commenced with a prayer song by Moovin Samson, a student of Class XI. It was followed by the prayer by Dona Santhosh, a student of Class XI. The School Director, Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Baiju Ben in his message emphasized the proverb ‘Charity begins at Home.' He inspired the students with the quotes of Gandhiji & Ravindranath Tagore and urged them to chase their dreams and live as responsible citizens of the country. Dona Martin of class VIII, gave a thought-provoking message through her speech in Malayalam ‘Pratyasha’. The spirit of freedom and nationalism was well exhibited by Annie Celine Denis and Cheryl P. through a patriotic song. Mariyam Basheer of Class VIII, shed light on the special highlight of the celebration through a Hindi speech ‘Shradhanjali’. Aadithya S. P and Aardhra S. P paid tribute to the nation by presenting a patriotic dance ‘Ye Vadan….Mere Vadan’.  Anna Fathima Azad of Class VII, in her speech, glorified the sacrifices made by our heroes, the freedom fighters. The programme concluded with an eye-catchy Video presentation by the students of Classes VII, VIII and XI, ’The Unsung Heroes,' which threw light upon the selfless sacrifices of great leaders like Lakshmi Sahgal, V. P Menon, Jathindra Nath Das, etc., whose contributions are rarely in the limelight. The programme, filled with a gamut of events, was indeed a colourful and informative one.
RYLAx 21 – International Ryla for Interactors!
The international e-RYLA session 2021 was a memorable session as we benefitted by learning so many things. There were more than 500+ Interactors from all around India, and also, from countries outside India. 6 students from Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School also took part. The webinar was conducted on the Zoom platform. It started at 10 am and ended at around 4:20 pm. There was a well-curated line-up of speakers who discussed common topics like Leadership, Wellness, and Passion through different points of view, which was interesting and informative as we gained in-depth knowledge about these topics. We realized the importance of sportsmanship and how to help others when they are in a medical emergency. Aamin Anvar, Nelna Sunil, Roshni R Nair, Fathima Sheyas Mirza, Devnanda R Satish and Juvana Dcosta were the students who took part in the webinar.
