Between the human being and the natural elements: Maui tries to control the Four Great Winds.

&nbsp;Maui asks the Keeper-of-the-Winds to bring out the Soft Wind and the Great Winds to fly his kite.

Recap Why did Maui go back to the woman the next day? Ans-Maui was not content with seeing how high his kite had flown. He wanted to see how much higher it could fly. And so he went back to the Keeper-of-the winds to ask for Ipu Nui, the gourd of the Four Great Winds. Did the Keeper-of-the Winds bring out Ipu Nui? Why? Ans-No, she did not. She reminded Maui that the winds would respect him if he respected them, especially the Four Great Winds.

1. Why did the Keeper become friendly? The Keeper became friendly because Maui had grown less arrogant and was using his knowledge of the weather to help others.&nbsp; 2. What was the lesson that Maui learnt? Maui learnt that he should obey his elders and respect the great winds.&nbsp; 3. What was Maui known as in the end? Maui was known as Teacher-of-the-Weather.&nbsp; 4. How was he able to tell the weather? Maui studied the movements of his kite in the sky and was able to find out through these movements what the day would be like.

Maui. He is a little hero for he has a super kite. He is initially wise enough to heed the Keeper’s advice about respecting the winds but then he becomes overconfident and takes power into his own hands. He underestimates the power of the Four Winds that he unleashes. Through his stupidity, he brings havoc to his village and they shun him. He rises because he learns humility, and loneliness helps him to learn to forecast the weather and he regains the respect of the village. He becomes a reliable person and the villagers respect his wisdom
