Listen to two sisters who are discussing plastic use in their lives.
Mia: Mum gave me some bags of sweets. Do you want a bag, Sophie?
Sophie: Oh, thank you very much, but you shouldn´t use so many plastic bags!
Mia: Why?
Sophie: Plastic is not good for our world, because it´s not easy to recycle plastic. Some people throw plastic in the sea. Animals in the sea and birds eat small pieces of plastic. Then the sea animals could die. And when we eat the fish, we swallow microplastic.
Mia: Oh sorry, it is horrible!
Sophie: Yes, we must avoid plastic.
Mia: But how can we avoid plastic?
Sophie: We must use reusable bottles and avoid plastic bottles for school. You can use a reusable box for your food and your sweets. We shouldn´t buy fruits in a plastic bag. We can use reusable tute bags when we go shopping. And when we need plastic then we must throw plastic in the plastic rubbish. So, it enters the recycling process.
Mia: Ok, I try to do better. Let’s go to mum. We can ask her to buy reusable boxes and bottles for school.
