A Day in Reception

I can explore the topic we are focussing on.  

I can play and learn with the maths resources.

I can make something with play dough. Maybe pretend cupcakes!

After that, we have phonics with Fred the frog. 

At snack time, we all wash our hands and enjoy a piece of fruit or vegetable. We munch happily while we listen to a story. 

I say goodbye to my parent/carer and hello to my teachers at the door.

I hang my coat and bag on my peg with my name on it. 

I can design and make something in the junk modelling area.

I can strengthen my fingers with the fine motor activities.

I can see what happens to the water when I pour it in the water tray. 

I can take turns to go on the slide and use the climbing frame. Only 2 friends on the climbing frame at a time. 

Some activities are part of the rainbow challenge. If I complete the challenge, I collect a colour of the rainbow. Once I complete all the challenges, I am a rainbow champion!

When we hear the chime, we all stop, hold up our hands, look and listen to the teacher.

If the tidy up song comes on, we know it is time to tidy up! 

When we are done tidying up, we come back to sit on the carpet, it is time for maths! 

Then it is free flow again. Here are some activities I can do outside:

I can construct with big blocks. I can make lots of exciting things. 

We come back to sit on the carpet, it is time for English! 

After we eat our lunch, we go for our lunch time play at:

Before lunch, we wash our hands. Then, we eat our lunch using cutlery.

After lunch play, we come back to school and take the register. Then we have more lessons. These are different every afternoon.

Portuguese Music Physical Development Circle Time with: Jenie Jerrie Cat

We take the register and do the ‘All About Today’ board. 

Then I go and sit on the carpet in my classroom reading a book while the rest of my friends arrive.  

During free flow, I can choose an activity inside or outside.

We say: ‘Choose it, use it, put it away.’

I can read stories in the reading area. We have lots of stories in Reception! 

Here are some things I can go inside:

I can build something in the construction area. 

I can use the natural objects to create a beautiful arrangement.

Sometimes we have Forest School on a Friday afternoon at a local park. 

At home time, we read a story and then collect all of our things to go home.

Goodbye Reception! I have already thought about what I will do next time!

I can make observations at the observation station. 

I can explore different musical instruments with my friends. 

I can make mud recipes in the mud kitchen.
