Moments Matter Attendance Counts!

It has always been important for pupils to have good attendance at school - research has shown how attending school regularly is linked to good academic and social outcomes for children.
It can be hard sometimes to know if your child is well enough for school. But the NHS has advice on when it's safe to let them go. For the majority of pupils, the best environment to learn in is school, where being surrounded by teachers and friends helps keep them safe. It’s important for your child’s academic achievement, as well as their wellbeing, wider development and mental health.

If your child is absent from school, let us know as soon as possible. Please contact the school office with the reason why.

It is important that we have two up-to-date contacts for each child so that if we need to contact you we can!

We can only authorise term time holidays in very exceptional circumstances. We have a data sharing agreement with the Local Authority and an unauthorised holiday may result in a fine.

The odd days absent soon add up!

Attending on time is incredibly important too!

Illness
So, anyone who is feeling unwell and has a high temperature should stay at home until they no longer have a high temperature.
Sickness (vomiting) and/or diarrhoea may be caused by bugs, food poisoning or other reasons.
Children should remain off school for 48 hours.

Respiratory infections can spread easily between people. It is important to be aware of symptoms so you can take action to reduce the risk of spreading your infection to other people.
Concerns around Scarlett Fever are understandable. Please see the NHS guidance about symptoms and treatment.

Difficulty breathing and wheeze :: Healthier Together

If your child has mild cold symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or slight cough and no high temperature, then they should attend school as usual.

If you are in any doubt about whether your child's
illness requires time off school, please contact
the school office and we will try to help. We can
also contact the school nursing service for advice.

Food Banks | Citizens Advice Darlington, Redcar and Cleveland

In Darlington, there are many foodbanks.

OLIO is a mobile app for food-sharing, aiming to reduce food waste. It does this by connecting those with surplus food to those who need or wish to consume such food. The food must be edible; it can be raw or cooked, sealed or open. Many of our families have already signed up to this and there are collection points near to school.
