 Le ciel me sourit - The Sky Smiles at Me

La lune est éclairée par le Soleil. Lorsque la lune fait le tour de la Terre, on aperçoit différentes parties de la lune s'éclairer. Ce phénomène est connu sous le nom de phases lunaires. Le ciel me sourit est un poème métaphorique qui décrit les différentes phases de la lune. Dans le poème, la lune représente la bouche du ciel. Pendant la durée d’un mois (souvent appelé mois lunaire), on observe les changements suivants:

Lorsque je jette mon regard dans la nuit, j'aperçois la bouche du ciel, une fine mèche argentée qui me lance un petit sourire.

When I look out at the night, I see the sky's mouth, a small silver sliver grinning at me.

Les nuits passent, je vois les yeux étoilés du ciel et son nez nuageux, mais aucune trace de sa bouche.

Nights go by, I see the sky’s starry eyes and cloud-like nose, but no sign of its mouth.

La lune évolue d’un mince croissant (le ciel me sourit) en une lune croissante. C'est-à-dire que la lune croît d'un large croissant (le ciel nous envoie un large sourire) en une demi-lune (le ciel semble rire). Ensuite, la lune gibbeuse continue à croître jusqu'à la pleine lune (le ciel semble rire aux éclats). Ensuite, elle recommence à rétrécir, passant de lune gibbeuse à demi-lune, puis à croissant et disparaît. Ce processus se reproduit, avec l'apparition de la mèche argentée d'une nouvelle lune. La prochaine fois que vous verrez la lune vous sourire la nuit, n'oubliez pas de lui rendre son sourire.

Have you ever glanced at the night sky and noticed it was smiling at you? If you haven't, read this poem to see the many ways the sky can communicate with you!

The&nbsp;moon changes from a thin crescent (the&nbsp;sky&nbsp;looks like it is grinning at us) to a waxing moon. This means that&nbsp;the&nbsp;moon is growing as it changes from a wider crescent (the&nbsp;sky&nbsp;looks like it is giving us a big&nbsp;smile) to a half moon (the&nbsp;sky&nbsp;looks like it is giggling). Then&nbsp;the&nbsp;waxing gibbous moon continues to grow into&nbsp;the&nbsp;full moon (the&nbsp;sky&nbsp;looks like it is having a wide, big, hardy laugh).&nbsp; The&nbsp;gibbous moon begins to wane; it shrinks back to a half moon then to a crescent and disappears.&nbsp; The&nbsp;whole process starts again with&nbsp;the&nbsp;appearance of&nbsp;the&nbsp;silver sliver of a new moon.&nbsp; The&nbsp;next time you see&nbsp;the&nbsp;new moon&nbsp;smiling&nbsp;at you in&nbsp;the&nbsp;night&nbsp;sky, don’t forget to&nbsp;smile&nbsp;back!

Et quand la bouche du ciel s'ouvre grande, je vois le ciel rire aux éclats.

As the sky’s mouth opens up, I see the sky laughing at me.

Le matin venu, le sourire du ciel s’éclipse pour mieux revenir la nuit, plus grand et plus brillant; je vois alors le ciel rire.

In the morning, the sky’s smile disappears only to reappear bigger and brighter at night. I see the sky giggling at me.

The&nbsp;moon is lit up by&nbsp;the&nbsp;sun. As&nbsp;the&nbsp;moon circles&nbsp;the&nbsp;Earth, we see different parts of&nbsp;the&nbsp;moon lighting up. This phenomenon is known as the&nbsp;moon or lunar phases. The&nbsp;Sky&nbsp;Smiles&nbsp;at&nbsp;Me is a poem that metaphorically describes&nbsp;the&nbsp;phases of&nbsp;the&nbsp;moon. In&nbsp;the&nbsp;poem,&nbsp;the&nbsp;moon represents&nbsp;the&nbsp;sky’s mouth. In&nbsp;the&nbsp;span of a month (often called&nbsp;the&nbsp;lunar month),&nbsp;the&nbsp;following changes take place:&nbsp;

Lysanne Abelardo est une enseignante en maternelle à l’école primaire Roslyn, à Montréal, Québec, avec plus de 20 ans d’expérience en enseignement. De plus, Lysanne a une passion débordante pour les Arts et est une artiste accomplie. Lysanne&nbsp;Abelardo is currently a kindergarten teacher at Roslyn&nbsp;Elementary School in Montreal, Quebec and has over 20 years&nbsp;experience&nbsp;in Early Childhood Education. In addition,&nbsp;Lysanne&nbsp;also has a strong passion for the arts and is an accomplished artist. She holds multiple degrees from Concordia&nbsp;University in Studio Arts, Art History and Fine Arts with a Specialization in Art Education. As both a teacher and a parent of two children,&nbsp;Lysanne&nbsp;strongly believes children's literature is fundamental&nbsp;to a child's education and growth. Therefore, contributing to&nbsp;The Sky Smiles at Me&nbsp;was an opportunity to put this belief into practice and create a wonderful story for children everywhere to enjoy!

Puis soudain, j'aperçois un soupçon de mèche argentée et le ciel me sourit à nouveau. Cette fois, je lui rends son sourire.

Then suddenly, I see a hint of a silver sliver and the sky smiles at me once more. This time, I smile back.

Plus les nuits passent, plus cette mèche argentée s'élargit et je vois le ciel me sourire.

As the nights go by, the silver sliver widens, and I see the sky smiling at me.

Avec chaque nuit qui passe, le rire du ciel s'efface progressivement et se transforme en un sourire en coin, puis en un minuscule sourire, puis s'éteint.

With each passing night, the sky’s laugh winds down to a side grin, then wanes to a small smirk, then fades away.
