What is Inquiry Based Learning?


Inquiry based learning is a learning process that puts the student in charge of their own learning. Inquiry based learning triggers a student's curiosity and by doing so, drives student learning. Students learn rapidly using inquiry based learning because it cuts out the things that students find uninteresting.

Types of Inquiry Learning
Confirmation Inquiry: Teachers give students a question, teaches the concepts and the process for discovering the answer.


Structured Inquiry: The teacher creates the initial question, models the process, and students continue the inquiry process by collecting and analyzing data.


Guided Inquiry: Teacher provides then initial question or problem, students conduct their own research and experimentation, usually in small groups.


Open Inquiry: "True Inquiry". Students ask their own questions, design their own experiments, collect data, share their findings.
