Prologue
The sound of the waves crashing on the reef was like a symphony to his ears. No need for electronic devices, or any other piece of technology. Here he was free. Free from all the constraints and the obligations he had. After all, as the son of the current president, he had no other choice but to comply with all the rules and restrictions in place. And to top it all things have only worsened since the the last pandemic of 2042.

-Tua'a'ai'a! What are you doing here again?! How many times have I told you not to come here unprotected? And why did your principal called me about you skipping class?

He does not answer.

    - Hey! Look at me when I’m talking to you! Is It true that you skipped your yearly shot?

He remained silent. He knew too well that no matter what he would say, his father would still scold him anyways
-Son, answer me.
-Yes i did, he sighed. But you know why! These shots have more side effects than actuall benefits. Don't you see how the city looks more and more like a ghost town? I hate it!
-How many times will I have to tell you? It's not about what you like or not. It's about public health and safety.
-Whatever. With you it's always the same. You never listen to me. Your political career is always more important than me. After all, I'm only a failure to you.

Fighting back his tears, he turned aways and agrily walked back towards the house.

-Tua'a'ia'a! Wait! I'm not done with you yet! screamed his father in vain: the boy was already gone.
Upset, he slammed the door and locked it then crashed into his bed. Why did his father always have to make things more difficult? Why has he become that strict? He could barely recognize his own father. “It all started when Mom passed away…It’s all because of that damned virus.” he thought. Ever since that day, it was as if he became a whole new person, and not in a good way. He became cold and distant and pledged to dedicate his life to the eradication of that very virus that killed his wife. He sighted. If only things could go back to how it used to be...His phone buzzed. A new notification came up. It was from that new online gaming platform he just subscribed to. It read “DeathSlayer04 wants to be your friend”. He logged in and simply accepted the friend request.
