PROLOGUE
In 2050, there was a girl named Hope.
She was 18 years old, but already an adventurous and resourceful girl. Hope was in fact, working for the renowned and prestigious magazine WWNews, as an international reporter. She was used to traveling a lot around the world for her articles, but the only place she called home, was her island Tahiti, where she lived with her granny Hereiti. Hope adored this elderly woman who had experienced so many things and who was able to tell them with an incredible passion.

But for a few years, this marvellous woman was gradually losing the memory of these adventures. So, in order to remember and transmit these parts of her past, she had asked her dear Hope for a special favour. Thus, Hope was looking forward to seeing her again and enjoying her well-deserved vacation. That’s how she arrived in Papeete harbour under a bright sun by the 9 o’clock transoceanic ferry. Hope found her granny on the docks and kissed her effusively, before taking the way home with her. The living room of the floating apartment had a beautiful view on the lagoon, what drew Hope’s attention were the newspaper clippings and other documents lying on the coffee table.
Hope intrigued, turned to Hereiti:
"Even today, certain diseases persist and impact people’s lives… I would like to pass on my heritage as long as my mind is still alive", said the granny, giving Hope an envelope.

Even more surprised, Hope looked at her granny, who smiled and began like this:
"The story takes place in 2020…"
"Granny, I know what happened in 2020! It was the coronavirus…"
"Honey! You know how rude it is to interrupt your elders?"
"Yes granny, sorry for this," said Hope joking.
"Great! Where was I?"
"… In 2020…"
"Yes, that’s it!" Granny’s voice then echoed throughout the room.
“2020, was my eighteenth year but also a year of profound upheavals for the whole world…”

My dear Hope,
You know, I’m about to lose my precious memories. Nevertheless, I don’t want to give up my memories since they are part of my identity, of our roots sweetie. Memories are priceless, and we have to keep them as long as we can alive.
Thus I have an important mission for you if you agree. You already know that 2020 was a turning point for the becoming of humanity, and today we can see the impacts of the coronavirus in our habits. I think you’re fed up with this story so I will not tell you anymore. However 2020 was very important for me in so far as I worked with an international team about this exceptional event.
So I would like you to travel around three countries : France, Italy and the Czech Republic in order to find my team members, or at least their descendants who may be your age. I know, it’s a long journey ahead of you, but I’m convinced you will succeed honey. It will be the opportunity to discover new countries, see the changes made in these societies after the pandemic and foremost to exchange with people who have lived this situation differently.
Don’t worry my dear, all travel instructions are on the back of the letter, with names and locations. Thanks to your job and your access to international archives, you will find them and their descendants.
Don’t forget sweetie, I will always love you. Yes, you’re my hope to keep my memories alive but don’t forget to enjoy this journey if you agree to it.
Love,
Granny
PS : If you can bring me back some souvenirs of the different countries
and the video I made with the others, I would be glad.

CHAPTER 1
25/09/2050
Dear diary,
For the first part of the adventure, granny had left me this advice: “Meet the captain of the Sea Wings, Maya, grand daughter of Felicia”, with a boarding pass for the transoceanic ferry to New York.
For the first part of the adventure, granny had left me this advice: “Meet the captain of the Sea Wings, Maya, grand daughter of Felicia”, with a boarding pass for the transoceanic ferry to New York.
Every time, I set a foot on the deck of the Sea Wings, I am impressed by its manta ray design. Nowadays, not many people travel abroad because of the travel restrictions implemented in lots of countries. But trade, exchange of goods and people is still necessary, so certain professions are able to travel around the world thanks to the IHV (International Health Visa). Thus, the transoceanic ferries are now essential to the traffic and connections in the Pacific Ocean. And Maya is the guide and keeper of this link across the Pacific.
I found her in the ship’s control station behind her console. Actually, she is as impressive as her ship, in her turquoise blue uniform. We talked for a while in front of the panoramic view of the control post. She told me that the transoceanic ferry company was the leader of transport in the Pacific Ocean, with a fleet of 20 ships. Besides, these ships are true jewels of technology and ecology, having a super-fast speed without CO2 emissions. The Sea Wings, is able to reach New York from Tahiti in 9 hours and works thanks to solar energy and nitrogen from seawater. Maya also explained to me, that the greater part of people who worked from the tourism are now employed in the ferry company. Indeed, maritime traffic has gradually replaced air flights in the area, because safer and environmentally friendly.
When we passed the Panama Canal, I went back to my seat to enjoy the last stretch to New York. I’m glad I got to meet Maya and learned so much about her ship. I think this mean of transport is my favourite and Maya’s passion for her job is contagious.
