Crystal's Captivating Adventure
By: Lillian Shamamian
Crystal
A loyal fluffy, white Miniature Poodle named Crystal once appeared on a remote, lush tropical island. This island remained extremely mysterious not only because its location occurred amid a vast, unnamed ocean but also because merely one wonderfully imposing castle existed on that island. Besides being a castle, over time, the king’s servant once encountered a majestic, multicolored parrot who, one day, became required to fly to the castle to see the king. During the examination, the king’s energetic dog, Crystal, ran inside the investigation room and disturbed the investigation. Crystal took advantage of living in an immense castle with a prosperous family all her life. Every day, a housemaid would care for her and regularly give her a shower with the most extravagant lavender smelled soap. Meanwhile, another dog also lived in the castle named Skippy. Skippy’s fur was so soft, it felt like cotton. Skippy, the brown Goldendoodle, never spent time with Crystal because he remained in the dungeon with the witch. He also envied Crystal because she would get everything she ever wished. Over the years, he became more clever and read all the witch’s spells. He became more tempted each day to escape the island to live as far abroad as he could from the witch.

However, one day, when the witch fell asleep, Skippy played with the freedom spells when, suddenly, he recognized the dungeon’s walls did not surround him anymore. Instead, he realized the freedom spell took him to another realm with plenty of homes, and he suddenly became delighted that he would not have to show his resentment toward Crystal anymore because he got what he wanted. Little does he know that Crystal somehow traveled through to the same realm with him because of the spell. While he walks through the streets, he observes many fascinating things he has never seen before. He sees many people, automobiles, enormous buildings, stores of all kinds, and many other things. However, the smell of the smoke in the new realm made Skippy realize how clean the air at the palace on the island smelled. The smoke smelled like ashes and burnt wood.

Golden Key
While Skippy enjoys walking through the streets, he suddenly realizes that he got picked up by a man wearing a navy blue shirt and had a cap on with writing, which he did not understand. The man also had a gleaming, golden key tied to one of his pockets. Then Skippy realizes he is in his big truck, in an uncomfortable cage. A few minutes later, Skippy hears the truck’s door open, and the man takes him inside a building, where he sees other dogs being kept in different sized cages. In a blink of an eye, he too got placed inside a dog cage, where he became as quiet as a mouse. Suddenly, Skippy notices that another vaguely familiar small white dog gets put inside his cage. That dog was Crystal. She was not looking forward to being at the pound. When she introduced herself to the other dog, who was twice her size, he said that his name was Skippy, and he was a Goldendoodle who got taken away from his family and brought to the pound a few months ago.

The Adoption
However, she did not know that Skippy lied to her about where he came from because he knew her from the castle he escaped from. He remembered being jealous of Crystal and did not want to admit anything to her. On the other hand, Crystal did not know who Skippy was and did not remember encountering him in her life. Skippy learns Crystal has her tactics of trying to get adopted as soon as possible. She does this by standing in front of the cage door to be seen by anyone passing by. However, Skippy recognizes this, and since he too wishes to escape, he troubles Crystal by blocking her from the front of the cell door with his vast chest. Both Crystal and Skippy sat patiently behind the cage door, waiting to get adopted. Skippy regularly enjoyed irritating Crystal in the adoption center. Over time, he started becoming interested in her romantically instead of acting jealous of her. Since he noticed Crystal tried her hardest to get adopted, he would stand in front of her with his enormous torso and chest, so she could not get adopted. One day, a man working in the shelter carefully opened the door, which abruptly caused Crystal and Skippy to jump up from their sleep. These two dogs were gasping with excitement as they observed around them to see what family would walk inside, hoping to get adopted. Later, as the family walked inside, they started seeking around to encounter a dog to adopt. About midway through the adoption crates, they spot two dogs struggling to fight for their lives to get rescued, which the family seems interested in.

Friends Forever
During this situation, Crystal quickly feels a powerful twinge in her paw. It felt like a sharp knife in her gut. She later realizes that Skippy accidentally sat on it. The injury makes Crystal furious, and she thinks, “Now, who would choose to adopt me?” When Skippy understood what happened to Crystal, he told her it was an accident; however, Crystal did not believe him. As a result, they get into a controversy by barking at each other. While this does not work out the dispute; instead, it makes it much worse. Now, all the other dogs in the adoption center and the families who choose to adopt a pet stare at Crystal and Skippy’s heated argument. Once Crystal and Skippy realize everybody got distracted by this incident, the fighting subsides. Then, they apologize to one another, and at that moment, they notice a family walking up to their crate, and both dogs become as quiet as a fish. When the family walks up to the silenced crate, they scrutinize both Crystal and Skippy and conclusively decide to adopt Crystal. However, Skippy feels despair and continuously whines once they make this decision. He was as innocent as a lamb. Consequently, the family adopts both Crystal and Skippy. As a result, both dogs become genuinely grateful that they have been adopted into the same family and will have each other’s backs for the rest of their lives.
