Craft paper border

We had a special 'virtual' visit from the adventurer Nick Carter. He spoke to us about how we can all be tougher; to take on challenges that we have never done before or that make us feel uncomfortable. We then took part in a special class race involving different challenges to see how many laps we could complete in 10 minutes. We were all very tired at the end!!

We enjoyed exploring symmetrical shapes in our Maths lesson. First we looked at simple shapes and their lines of symmetry, recognising that you could fold the shape in half along the line. Next we cut out symmetrical Christmas trees by folding a piece of paper in half before completing some symmetrical Christmas pictures.

In our D.T. lessons we have made moving picture Christmas cards. After looking at different examples of moving picture cards, we explored 3 different moving parts; a pivot, a slider and a concertina effect. We made simple mock-ups of each using a split pin for the pivot, a special craft knife to cut card for the slider, and exploring folds to create the concertina.

We all had a great time at our Christmas party! We made party hats, played lots of games, enjoyed delicious party food and even had a special visit from Santa all the way from his grotto!

We then designed our cards thinking carefully about the picture and which part would move. Using our designs, our cards were made with fantastic results!!

We have continued investigating different materials and their properties in our Science lessons. The children enjoyed finding out which paper towel was the most absorbent!

We also enjoyed finding out how different objects' shapes could be changed by squashing, stretching, twisting and bending, and recorded our results in a table
