How has the geography of the West shaped who we are?

This is a example of what a Banff national park animal crossing bridge looks like. This was a really cool addition to this trip to stop and look at.

When we endured on the lake Minnewanka journey there were many things to feel touch and experience for example the stories within this Great Lake and this was just like any other place movement of the stories in this lake which brought people to enjoy this majestic lake. Here is some facts about the lake. Limestone in the mountains were used to help the First Nations build fires and the limestone today a is used for sauna’s also lake Minnewanka  has a hidden city under water about 90 ft below the surface because it sunk over time into the lake as it used to be a hotel.

The two themes of geography for the last spike are movement and human environment. I chose movement because movement of ideas would come through the last spike for example ideas from the us and etc, also because of supplies food and mail now. Now, for human environment because of the trees rivers and mountains and also because of the location since it is a railroad track. But I also chose human environment because it really stood out to me how the train and artifacts and more, are so well kept. And how this has been an important part of our Canadian history.

I cant really connect to the last spike because it is a historic railroad in Canada  but what I can connect to is trains, I can connect to trains because I used to watch Thomas the train and dinosaur train when I was very young. That is a way I can connect!

The last spike has shaped the west because of the tourism of this historic place in Canada cause of the railway and the movement of ideas. Also its is connected to the fact that the railway was very important for Canadian confederation in the west and eastern Canada and it creates a team, a country and colonization.

Geography is the study of the environment of physical elements and history of this world and the human environment study of change and how it affects and how it helps our environment. GEOGRAPHY for example again is historic sites to help teach and know what is around us in this world to get a better knowledge of what happening to the environment like head smashed in buffalo jump.

This picture shows how amazing people are with stuff that very important with our history and this explains it because this picture is a t-rex head built together with a thousand pieces of fossil. It’s Incredible! It shows human environment and movement, it shows movement because of the movement of these fossils and how careful and gentle you have to be.

What made and makes the west in the badlands is its domain and the fossils and the history/science that comes with it, thats what made and makes the west.

I can connect to the badlands because of the show dinosaur train that I used to watch when I was younger and also, my friend’s dad is a well known Palentolgist that found the second best preserved mammoth in the world recently.

Geography also has to do with the place and what it is known for like France for its cheese and baguettes. But here’s an example of a place called Alberta.

This video shows the history behind Alberta and also it shows the flatness of the prairies since there are no mountains in the background.

Reflection 5: Sundre Museum and Pioneer Village

In the sundre museum there were many forms of geography like movement place and human environment and just geography in general in the top picture those are bighorn sheep Marco Polo and dall sheep I took a pic of them because they represent region and movement. Region because of where they were harvested and movement because of the shipping of the animals hides to make it a tourism place also human environment because of the people making it and blessing with these magnificent animals.

Sundre museum made and makes the west because of its movement of mail in Sundre and also cause it is a known museum that attracts tourists and also because of its place Alberta, Sundre is a plains area in Alberta just beside Calgary so it is a great place to be if you want to see what the Canadian plains look like.

This relates to old times because of the hunting in the museum and the importance of it. It shows importance because these mounts meant so much to the man who killed them just like the First Nations did.

I took a look at it and I saw place, and. Movement I chose movement because of the movement of mail and supplies and also place because of sundre the town and how it is central Alberta and it had mail going through there from World War Two and one.

Another example of geography is the environment and this photo shows you a natural hot spring that is kept safe from humans so we cant ruin this historic site.

The pipe mountain coaster was the most fun activity we did on the trip It was so fascinating how they built this so I chose movement human environment for this one and place. Movement because of the story’s and tourism of the place that spread across the globe of this amazing fun activity. Human environment because of the mountains and plants and everything around it that is well kept so that the people who ride the coaster have an amazing time. Place because of the amazing hiking fishing touristy place called Revelstoke.

I chose movement and location, place, also regions. I chose movement because of how how it is such a tourist place and the stories on the lake passed through the First Nations  which feeds into the reason i chose place LAKE MINNEWANKA and how it is such a well known and historic place that is a vernacular region and absolute location.

If it weren’t for the gold rush in this case there weren’t have been any attraction to lake minnewanka and it would have been just a lake but the guild rush brought many people to this location and it blew up.

I can connect to lake minnewanka because of a lake I know in the Yukon called dezdeash lake and I can connect because when they talked about the big storms on the lake because of cross winds.

Lake minnewanka made and makes the west because of its amazing mountains surrounding it and its legendary story of the sea monster brought down for decades by the first action but it also was a sign of human environment.

While we were there he gave us a related situation of what’s happening to us now of hats happening to the buffalo in the picture. The picture shows them right at the edge of there life and we are at the edge of the next generation of people which really inspired me and others.

I chose movement and human environment, I chose movement because of the moment of people telling others around the world to come to the pipeline coaster and it shows human environment because of the well kept and the rebuild of this amazing coaster and how we build it on a mountain. 

What made and makes the west on the pipe mountain coaster is the tourist attraction to this fun site it draws people from around the world.

I have been on many roller coasters but no it one like this but what I can really connect to is why people find it so fascinating and that is for the view of the Rockies and Revelstoke is outstanding. 

A lot of our trip was about historic events like the CPR, and the gold rush and how it is part of our early Canadian culture and our early National Canadian economy. Now, the culture and the geography of the West has shaped us because of the people and when I say people, I mean the people brought culture, foreign labour, and tourism which put us on the map and created our civilization and our culture. When we look at Vancouver, the majority of the people were not born in Canada except for our First Nations people. Most people includes others from around the world, who brought culture and their abilities and ideas which leads to my answer to the driving question: The geography of the West brought a diverse cast of settlers, who brougt their culture and skills to the west which shaped our culture and abilities.

Cave and Basic National Historic Site

This right here was a quick stop before we went to the pipe mountain coaster this was the CPR railway tunnel that is outstanding because it is a spiral tunnel under the base of a mountain and it is a big tourism place that you need good timing for. It shows movement and human environment. 

Reflection 3: Cave and Basin National Historic Site

I chose human environment movement and location I chose human environment because it was found and kept well over years from humans and also movement because of the adaptation in the hot springs today and location because of the absolute location of the cave and basin.

In this video I am showing how this natural hot springs brought people around the world for tourism it is a place in geography and movement of mail and messages about this prized place.

I can’t connect to the cave and basin much since it is a hot springs in a cave but what I can connect to is the time duration the gold rush and where I used to live in the Yukon is the start of the gold rush and that how I can connect.

Without the gold rush in B.C. These hot springs would maybe never be found in the first place if it weren’t for governor james and his wagon roads to mining fields.

I chose for the first picture that it represents movement and human environment it shows human environment because of the bridge itself and how it stands 21 houses tall it doesn’t just do that itself and it is also very well kept. Now, I chose movement because of the adaptation of the bridge, I went to the golden skybridge a few years ago and it was nice and all but it did not have a zipping for example and it wasn’t as wobbly as last time so they have obviously re updated the bridge and they are in the mist of building a roller coaster through the canyon.

I can connect to the golden skybridge since I have been on many suspension bridges before like a one I have gone on a lot miles canyon bridge and Lynn canyon bridge.

This video of the zip line shows human environment because it is a zippo line and it is well built and it shows movement because it is like a transit and it is a region of golden sky bridge.

The golden sky bridge shapes the west because it is a big attraction in western Canada but it did not shape the west back then since it wasn’t a thing.

Reflection 7: Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site

This is a historic place a destination for many tourist’s but this is by far my favourite place on the trip because I could feel the excitement and stress in the air after watching the hunting film because this hill was used to trap bison and make them fall off the cliff and feed 900,000 people in the community they would average 300 kills of these cliffs which I find so interesting this definitely was a movement in geography because this hunting spot was famous and the First Nations had adapt to this weather and timing of the buffalo throughout the thousands of years hunting them.

This made and makes the west because it helped us with our population of people in Alberta because of the First Nations were fed throughout the winter by these beast which helped them be smarter better and more agile and it created Alberta more specifically the plains. 

I can connect to this because of living in the Yukon and the every year bison hunt I have been doing since I was 7 years old and this jump when they talk about how they rely on it makes sense because of how big and healthy they are and also, in the modern day money is a big thing and when we harvest bison we use all of it and fill our freezer so we don’t have to buy processed meats.

Frank slide was a historic and tragic day that happened early 1900’s and it has been a historic site since it is known because it was the biggest landslide to occur in North America.
