The purpose of this book is to learn more about the 2023-2024 Gateway Nominees. These nominees span a variety of genres and interest levels. For each title, we have print copies available in the library and eBooks and audiobooks available on Sora.
Want to read one of this year's Gateway Nominees?
On each page, you will see the icons below.
1) Place a hold on a print copy of the book by clicking on the Destiny Discover icon.
2) Click on the Sora icon to check out an eBook or audiobook version. You will need to log into your Sora account.
3) Several of the titles are also on Hoopla. Click on this icon if you want an eBook and/or audiobook. Use this option if the copies on Sora are unavailable since Hoopla has unlimited copies. You will need to log in with your St. Charles City-County credentials.
Tips for Reading the Book
1) You can listen to all the text within the book. See the screenshot. Click the gear icon in the top right corner to adjust your preferences. Then under "Read to Me", click on "Read Words". If you have another langauge setting on your Chromebook, it will show up as an option when listening to this book.
2) When you click on the megaphone icon, you can listen to an excerpt of the audiobook. You also can read the transcript. Adjust the audiobook transcript settings by changing from light to dark mode, if you prefer.
