This&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;great&nbsp;side&nbsp;dish, but&nbsp;you&nbsp;can&nbsp;eat&nbsp;it&nbsp;as&nbsp;main&nbsp;meal&nbsp;as&nbsp;well.&nbsp; First&nbsp;peel&nbsp;the&nbsp;potatoes&nbsp;and&nbsp;then&nbsp;place&nbsp;them&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;oven. The&nbsp;oven&nbsp;must&nbsp;be&nbsp;preheated&nbsp;to 200&nbsp;degrees. Roast&nbsp;the&nbsp;potatoes&nbsp;for 45&nbsp;minutes.&nbsp;When&nbsp;the&nbsp;potatoes&nbsp;are&nbsp;roasted, take&nbsp;them&nbsp;out&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;oven&nbsp;and&nbsp;you&nbsp;can&nbsp;serve&nbsp;them.&nbsp;

Međimurje, small region in the very north of Croatia, is a place of great food. Students of Primary school Orehovica have tried to show what are (and were) tradional recipes of our region. We prepared recipes for some of the meals. Enjoy!

Blue polka dot pattern

Ingredients for the dough: 1 kg smooth flour 2 bags of dry yeast 1 tablespoon of salt 2 tablespoons of sugar 2 dl of oil 6-7 dl of warm milk

Mix and knead everything. Cover the dough and leave in a warm place to rise. Knead again and cut the triangles. Roll them and leave again for a few minutes. Put them onto a baking sheet, coat them with sesame seeds, cumin, poppy seed or coarse salt. Bake in preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes.

This is not traditional Croatian recipe, but we make these cakes a lot so they deserve a place in this book.

Kolbasi s hajdinskom kašom

Peel the potatoes. Cut them or slice them. Put them in salted water to boil. When they are cooked, drain the water and mash them into a puree. Put the sausages in the oven for 30 minutes to roast. When they are finished, put them on a plate and serve with mashed potatoes.
