Tiago's Retribution

The Mission

In the land and age where pirates ruled the lands, there lived a man named Tiago. Tiago is a member of the Serpiente Legion, like his parents when they were alive. Tiago’s parents were well-respected members of the Legion and were targets for their rivals. He believes that the prince of the Kraken Alliance Leroy killed them. Because of this, Tiago works undercover as a cook in the Kraken Alliance to bring their terror down from inside their ranks. Tiago always carries a square picture with a small frame on a necklace of his parents with him to remember what he is fighting for.

Because of his parents, Tiago could get his mission approved by one of the high-ranking generals in the Legion. He was lucky that he was recruited by a member of the Kraken Alliance a couple of days later after staging a fight against another member of the Serpiente Legion. Tiago quickly gained the trust of some members of the Alliance and was quickly moved to one of their bases inside of their most secure territories. Tiago could quickly meet Leroy after the careless prince was chased into the kitchens by a rat that was looking for food. Leroy crashed into Tiago and saw the food Tiago was preparing and was astonished. He immediately ordered that Tiago be moved to the base that Leroy stayed at the most often.

As Leroy always wears large clothes Tiago always wears thin and undersized clothes for him. At that base, Tiago learned the truth that he so desperately wanted to hear while serving food for Leroy and overhearing him bragging about a conquest from two years ago. He also said the only reason he attacks the Serpiente Legion is that they are a small legion that is easy to attack. Leroy is describing his victory over a town that did not surrender to him. He continues by saying how the two of the members were low-ranking officials and that when the rubble cleared after the attack they noticed that they also finished off two generals that they had been looking for for almost a year. Crash! Tiago had dropped the plate he had been carrying. He knew Leroy was talking about his parents.

The Prince

A week after Tiago heard the prince confirm his suspicions, he finally heard Leroy’s first plan to finish the Serpiente Legion. The only reason Leroy has any power and respect in the Alliance is that his father is the king and granted Leroy the power to promote or demote other members. Being the uncautious person Leroy is, he stated his whole proposition during a meal where anyone can hear.

One of Leroy’s lieutenants, Edgar, often reminds the king to not discuss his plan in an open hall, such as the grand dining hall. Unfortunately for Leroy, Edgar was off searching for bandits on a different island. Little did Edgar know, that Tiago was the man who sent him the tip about the criminals to remove him from the island.

Tiago made sure he was serving the night Leroy plans to discuss his plan. Because of Tiago’s small stature, he can listen to all of Leroy’s conversation without being suspicious or raising the attention of the other officers at the table. As Leroy describes his plan in detail, Tiago can already start forming a counter plan to combat Leroys. On the day that Leroy’s plan is supposed to be executed nears, things have mysteriously gone wrong for Leroy. First, one of his ships got destroyed and the captain of the ship went missing, and his location was unknown. Second, Leroy’s crew keeps hearing of plan changes Leroy did not order. At this point, Leroy knew that someone was plotting against him, especially when his lieutenant returned, saying there were no bandits. Leroy and his advisor gathered everyone who may have heard the plan into one room to interrogate them. This included all the officers and all the people that helped prepare the food. The order of interrogations went from officers to chefs and then to servers. Tiago was last up and he felt that his interrogation was longer than everyone else. Tiago assumes that Leroy and his advisors are on him and are more careful with his plans. Although Leroy does not know how or why someone tried to stop him, the one thing he knows is that someone is plotting to take him and the Kraken Alliance down.

The Plan

From that day on, Leroy kept a close eye on all the people that were in the room. Most importantly, he made sure that his royal guards kept a lookout for the chefs and servers but did not think to remove them from serving rooms with important commanding officers and royal family members. Although Tiago decided to be more careful, he knew Leroy would soon plot another plan after Tiago destroyed his previous plan. Just as Tiago had suspected, Leroy started forming and sharing the details of his next plan with other commanders.
Leroy began his meeting by ordering food for himself and desserts for the other members of his council. As the guests received their desserts, some members from Leroy’s last meeting started suspecting the same thing would happen to Leroy’s current plan as to what happened to his previous plan. Although they tried to warn Leroy, he would not stop talking, even with his mouth full of chicken. One of Leroy’s passions is trying different wines, and he enjoys this, especially during serious meetings, to lighten the mood. Tiago, knowing that, made sure that he had prepared to serve Leroy’s wine. Just as some officers suspected, Leroy’s plan began falling apart before it could begin. The officers hired members of their ranks to look out for those who were attempting to sabotage the plans but did not tell Leroy. Keeping Leroy in the dark about the secret plan to protect the plan allowed the officers to smoothly run their operation. As they did not discuss this during the meeting, Tiago did not know of this and began falling into a routine

and started becoming reckless and attempting to break anything with the Kraken Alliance emblem on it. A couple of days after his meeting, when Leroy woke up a surprise met him. An officer stormed through his bedroom door and threw a person to Leroy’s feet. Because of Tiago’s routine, an officer tracked him down and ambushed him when Tiago checked into his work at the kitchens. They found Tiago planting explosives on the ships that were going to be used on Leroy’s greatest plan yet. With great difficulty, Leroy jumped out of his bed and started forming ideas about what to do with Tiago. Leroy assumes Tiago is already defeated and has one solo guard take him to the dungeons. As Tiago is walking to the dungeons, he can outpower the guard and force the guard to give him the keys to the shackles around his hands and ankles.

Hostage

Tiago knows he has to lie low and give Leroy time to forget about him so that he can attack Leroy without high-security measures. Tiago locked the guard in a cell so no one will know that he escaped and is free. As Tiago moved through the main floor of Leroy’s capitol building, he forced himself to move in stealth to avoid as many people as possible.

Tiago used the escape tunnels Leroy brags about having them put in just for him. The tunnels run under most of the buildings in the main areas of the island. As Leroy boasted about catching the spy and finished detailing his plan, Tiago could hear and form his counterplan. Leroy keeps claiming that his plan is flawless and will finally impress his father and earn the respect of other rival crews. Leroy, being the unaware and unsuspecting man that he was, did not see it coming when Tiago sprang into the room and forcefully held Leroy down. All the other generals were in too much shock to act at the right time and this allowed Tiago to get a jump on them and hold Leroy at knifepoint. Tiago could now make the officers do whatever he wanted because he knows that if Leroy were to get kidnapped or worse, the officers were as good as dead.

Tiago started his demands by stating that the Alliance must release him and that the Kraken Alliance not attack the Serpiente Legion. The officers, panicked, and could not think of anything except for saving Leroy and forcing Tiago to let him go. Tiago allowed them to talk to each other and discuss a plan. Although the officers outnumbered Tiago, he still had the upper hand, as none of the generals had weapons in the room.

The one rule for all battle strategy conferences is no weapons. This allowed Leroy to feel safe and have confidence that even after the worst ideas, nothing terrible will happen to him. As Tiago remind occupied with the situation in front of him, a new private noticed what was happening and snuck up behind Tiago.

The next thing Tiago saw when he awoke was the cold grey bars of the jail cell smelling of old sewage and rat feces with the constant feeling of claustrophobia that the guards put him into. Tiago knew that escape would be near impossible after seeing the two guards posted at the jail entrance and seeing the other guards surrounding the building. Tiago knows that his only chance of escape would be to outpower the guards and run to find support in the marketplace nearby. Instead, he settled on sneaking out at night after stealing a guard’s key during the communal time. That night, Tiago bolted through the jail and left without checking to see if anyone noticed he had escaped. Tiago decided on lying low for a couple of days and allowing people and Leroy to forget about his threat to the Kraken Alliance. Tiago had tried forcing Leroy to leave his Legion alone, but he contemplated trying diplomatically. Tiago would have to use Leroy’s lack of knowledge against him and trick him into signing a treaty to not attack the Serpiente Legion.

Trapped

As Tiago was at his lowest point, he could not think correctly and he forced himself to remain conscious and try to escape to stop Leroy. Tiago waited until nightfall and until the guards took shifts while one slept. Tiago kept thinking of ideas as each of the previous ones was flawed. He focused on just escaping his cell and thinking up the rest on the fly. Tiago could hold nothing in the cell except for the clothes on his back and his necklace because Leroy forgot to take it away. Tiago remembers his necklace is square and that he can attempt to cut through the bars of the cell.

Throughout the complete night, while the cold ate away at him, Tiago attempts to cut the bars of his cell and he finally could right before dawn. As Tiago quickly hurries out of his cell, he removes the guard on duty from his post and sneaks past the other guard. By the time Tiago reaches the main floor of the building, he already knows Leroy will be on his ship waiting to lead his attack. Tiago barely sneaks onto Leroy's boat before it departs and confronts the bridge after gathering a sword from the living quarters. As Leroy notices Tiago approaching, he quickly grabs a sword and starts a standoff with him. They both battle intensely but in the end, Leroy is out powered and Tiago forces the other officers on the ship to turn the fleet around and cancel the attack.

Resolution
