What lives in Australia and is cute and cuddly and is a pet but it is not a pet? If you guessed koala your right! Some people have koalas as pets but they are just taking care of them until they can take care of themselves and can go out in the wild.

There are more than 600 kinds of eucalyptus trees. 

Koalas have a special digestive system which removes the toxins from eucalyptus leaves and they also have a pouch to protect their babies.

Koalas live in southeastern and also eastern Australia, koalas live in eucalyptus trees in forests in Australia.

Koalas have soft, wool like fur that is gray above and white below. Koalas weigh 9 to 29 lbs and grow up to 2 to 3 ft.
