In the past, I've had students with cognitive impairments who struggled with many areas of reading comprehension. I choose this common core standard and created a personalized textbook to help the student understand how to process information. The student had a better understanding of text if it was somehow related to him. In order for him to practice this skill, I created a book about his morning routine. With this text, it provides digital access to text and has customized text to help him. Text and test questions are read aloud to help student.

Learning Disability - Reading Comprehension

Student Description: Alex is an elementary student wit a mild cognitive impairment. Alex was diagnosed at an early age. He struggles with reading comprehension. He is in a self contained classroom and has an IEP. His IEP goal is to work on story comprehension and story retelling. Specifically he needs to work on skills such as sequencing.
