The New England Colonies

The English came to the New England Colonies for religious freedom and a natural harbor. The Puritans did not want to pray in the Church of England. Come to New England where you can practice other religions.

New England's soil is rocky and its winter is a little harsh , but there is also vast forests and clean water. Men cut lumber from trees to build houses and trading ships. The winter kill insects and germs that cause diseases. Most of the time, colonists in New England live longer than people in other regions.

New England's economy is made on small farms, lumber, fishing, and trade.  Unlike the other colonies New England also has a thriving shipbuilding  industry.
