Through out this whole project I have learned a lot and enjoyed it a lot. I’ve always liked writing and doing this was really fun. I loved learning about the different types of poems and doing our own. I want to apply what I have learned in this project to the free verse writing I do at home. Each poem I have done took me awhile because I re-did a lot of them. There was a lot of trial and error and half of the time I just stared at the blank page planning out what I was going to say and if it would sound good. In the end I think I can take away a lot from this and I won’t forget what I’ve learned.
Simile poem

Music is as beautiful as flowers

As relaxing as a summer breeze

As comforting as the sun

As fun as the seas

Music is as kind as the singing birds

As gentle as a cloud

As strong as the trees

As supportive as the ground

Music is as nurturing as the plants

As loyal as the sky

As helpful as the air

And as gorgeous as a firefly
Music
What is a Simile poem?
Why did I make this poem the way I did?
Extended metaphor
Rain
Time is like rain. We all start in the same place, as does rain in the clouds. Then we are all are born like rain falling from the clouds starting our journey through the world. Some water drops combine with other water drops and join into a puddle, as do we finding our people. But sometimes puddles get splashed in and water drops go flying having to find a different pathways through life. Just like us breaking up or drifting apart. We have to find our own way with the right people. You never know where life will take you. Water drops might fall straight into the ocean or they might slide down multiple leaves and flow through multiple pipes. But in the very end all water drops end up in the same place no matter how long it takes. They might take a few tries as they go through the clouds again after they evaporate but they all end up in the ocean eventually. The same thing happens with us, no matter how many different journeys we take through life we all always end up in the same place.

Haiku
What is a Haiku?
The tears on my face
The blood dripping down my leg
But, its for the field
In goes the headphones
Its a nice helpful escape
Music fills my ears
I swung back and forth
Shoes scrape along the wood chips
Bye elementary
Found poem
What is a found poem?
I don’t wanna live as a untold story

Rather go out in a blaze of glory

I can’t hear you

I don’t fear you

I wanna taste love and pain

I wanna feel pride and shame

Never look back and say

it could have been me

I don’t wanna live as a unsung melody
Why did I choose this song?
This poem is from the song Could Have Been Me by The Struts
Imagery poem
On the very last night we all dug through our suitcases and wrapped ourselves in the warmest coats we brought. We stepped out into the crisp night engulfed by darkness. We got lead down the rock trail around the tall trees leaning towards us. We sat down around the crackling fire letting smoke swirl into the air. The wooden hut let off a sweet yet bitter smell in the air, the smell of cedar just barely cut through the smell of smoke. The cool air blew through the open walls and spun around the ash from the fire. Our voices masked the sound of bugs in the forest singing their own songs. We sung the songs we have learned during our stay. The beautiful sound harmonized through the forest and bounced off the mountains. We swayed back and forth absorbing the very last night of our trip.
