Aiyana: The Feminist

My crowning On the day of the crowning, I kept the feather in my pocket for good luck. Once I was crowned, I stuck the yellow feather in my hat and wore it with pride.&nbsp; The crowning ceremony was a peaceful, small, and encouraging ceremony. All of my friends and family were there cheering me on silently, so that they wouldn’t disturb of course. After the ceremony was finished, everyone came up to me to congratulate me.&nbsp; They all claimed that I looked like a beautiful, powerful, and demanding ruler up in front of everyone but I still looked caring and considerate at the same time. Deep down inside me I knew that this is what my mother wanted, I knew she was looking down on me prouder than ever. Standing in front of everyone made me think about the day many years before this one, when she prepared me for the day that has officially come. My crowning… she told me to say it like I mean it! My mother and I were sitting on the floor at top of a blanket. She was braiding my hair telling me that everything would be alright, that she believed in me. Those words stick with me everyday and they always will no matter what the circumstance consists of.

Go undercover as a trader. Give them corn and then sneak into the crowning site. Then reveal myself. Followed by overruling them.

I am so scared. What is she going to do to them? I bet whatever the rest of her plan is they will deserve it. I forgot to tell you, the rest of her plan got ripped out. It is nowhere to be found. What is happening?!?!?!

This is her now. She never got over the whole obsession with hate towards Aiyana and her family. Hate took her over. Remeber her all beautiful and happy? My Parents always told me-Good or Evil, pick one-not both. I choose good.

Great News! I just got invited to Aiyana's ceremony dinner!!! She said that she wants to put our differences behind and become friends again. I want to give her something special. You will see.

So basically, when I walked in, the bodyguards gave me and my mom a very thorough pat down. I did not enjoy it at all. Aiyana then asked me how I was doing and sat me down. She thanked me for the basket and told me what I had done for them will never be forgotten. We then made up and became friends again. Aponi and I did not talk. We met before the dinner and told each other that Aiyana did not need to know. The point is we are friends. We will keep our friendship a secret to everyone. Even our moms. Our moms also have drama, but that is a story for another time. The dinner was great. Here is the note I made:

Dear Aiyana, Our friendship came to an end at a very young age. That was because of me. I became sad and mad that you left us. My mom then became crazy and mean. No one-not even her knows why. She went into hiding from the world. She never wanted to go out of her room. All the thoughts really got to her. We both got stuck in this world of darkness. My family is sorry for what we have done and the drama we have caused. Please forgive us. ( Thanks for the dinner. It was amazing.) -Navajo

My mother and Navajo's mother have always been enemies. Navajo used to be my best friend until our parents turned against each other. Now, we're just acquaintances. Her mother is still alive unlike my own. After her mother, Navajo will become ruler of her own tribe. Navajo and I put aside our differences and planned a dinner for our families. It is a night all about forgiveness. When Navajo and her mother arrived at the dinner, they were distant. We got to talking and we realized that our mothers were just disagreeing on an issue and it wasn't even a big deal. Our families made up and me and Navajo became friends again. There is something I didn’t tell you though, Navajo and Aponi hate each other. I’m not sure why but it is just that way. I can’t tell Aponi that Navajo and I made up. She would freak.&nbsp; Eventually, me and Navajo saw each other every day, her mom had even become like a mom to me. I am so glad that we put this stupid fight behind us.&nbsp;

Let me tell you a little bit about my best friend Aponi. She was always there for me from the day we met at a playground and I was getting bullied by two older boys. Every time I've ever needed her, she's been there. She was the one who was there for me when my mom died, and she was there for me at simple times like helping me pick out what color ribbon to put in my hair for the ceremony. Aponi always made me feel welcome. She was my shoulder to cry on. My ride-or-die. We spent every waking moment together, talking and laughing was what we did most. There were sometimes however, when laughing and talking weren’t elements on the table. A good chunk of our time spent together was us crying or giving each other advice. She is the reason I got through my mother's passing.&nbsp;

Here is there village. It is all nice and cozy and warm. Aiyanas' ceremony was today. There will be a big dinner and I got invited. I have prepared a gift basket filled with flowers, corn seeds, meat, and a note made from banana leaves. I hope they like it. I am going to present my feelings in a profession way. With my mom. I asked if she wanted to come. I told her I was coming and that I choose good. As long as I am there she will not destroy anything. She said she was ready to get out of her room and be active. I missed my real mom-before she was evil. Now I have her back and she has mine. I am very happy.

Okay guys. I just found somthing that changed my life and I don't know how to feel...here it is.

It is a page from my moms journal from 10 years ago. She told me if I ever found not to open it. After all I went through...I should of listened.

Ever since I was crowned ruler, I had felt different, like I had more of a complex lifestyle. Everyday I would wake up and feel like I was living every woman's fantasy, to be powerful and successful, but still kind and nurturing. I was in charge of everything from what food we eat to major decisions like letting other tribes join our own. Everyone believed in me. Even I was starting to believe in myself. When my mother died I didn’t think I would ever believe in myself again because I thought that I was the cause of my mother's death even though I knew it was because of a major illness. Everyone always said it wasn’t my fault. They claimed that I shouldn’t worry because I will see her again one day. I knew they were right but I was in so much shock of her passing that I didn’t want to hear anything that could trigger my emotions.
