We take part in a variety of eco-friendly activities.

World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.

World Environment Day: For this year, the theme is "Only One Earth". World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 to encourage people to take action and protect the environment.

We celebrate 50 years since it was founded in Sweden in 1972.

We have only ONE planet. Let's take care of it. We must go from harming the planet to healing it. VIII graders in "Nesho Bonchev" High School are eager to help the planet with small steps. We registered our earth actions, joined the #OnlyOneEarth Campaign, and shared it around the world. We also took part in World Water Day on 22 March, Earth Day on 22 April, Biodiversity Day on 22 May, and today it is again our day - 5th June.
The 2022 World Environment Day campaign #OnlyOneEarth calls for collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet.
" Some day man will land on the Moon, he will land on other planets as well. And then he will see how beautiful the Earth was and he will realize that he lived in Heaven, but he didn't know and appreciate this.", Atanas Dalchev, Bulgarian poet, 1956

World Environment Day 2022
WE COLLECT PLASTIC CAPS
In the universe, there are billions of galaxies. In the galaxies, there are billions of planets but there is ONLY ONE EARTH.

- We collect plastic caps because of buying new incubators for newborns with health problems.

- We collect plastic caps because in this way we can help to save our planet and support disabled children. It's better to collect them and give them for recycling than to throw them away.

- We are saving our planet by eliminating the use of plastic products. It is true that the cap is only a small part of the bottle, but collecting caps from all employees and families gives us a really large amount of plastic that can be reused.

- We must buy more bottles to collect more plastic caps.

Save the planet
Plant a tree
Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change. They are home to some endangered species too. Do NOT cut down on them on purpose.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space. Do NOT throw your old stuff but pass then forward to your friends who might need them.
Conserve water
The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean.

Shop wisely
Buy less plastic and bring reusable shopping bags.

WE COLLECT ALUMINIUM CANS
Aluminum is the most abundant mineral in the world.

Although aluminum cans are recyclable, they still carry environmental disadvantages and may pose health risks to the public.
Aluminum is used in a huge variety of products including cans, foils, kitchen utensils, window frames, beer kegs, and airplane parts.

This is because of its particular properties.

Aluminium cans
Different colours and shapes
Aluminum cans have a higher recycling rate and more recycled content than competing package types.
Al cans are lightweight, stackable, and strong, so they can be recycled.
Al cans can bring you convenience. They are an ideal fit for active lifestyles such as hiking, camping, and others.
- They cause soil pollution
- They cause air pollution
- Storage in cans may affect the taste of certain foods.

WE COLLECT GLASS BOTTLES AND JARS
Disadvantages:
In order to be able to use more glass than plastic, it is necessary to build factories, which involves large investments. The very creation of installations for waste processing is with air pollution and emission of harmful emissions.

Recycled products are often of poor quality
Products made from recycled materials are not always sustainable. Often, items made from recycled waste are more fragile than new ones and therefore cheaper than them.

Landfills for recycling are not hygienic
Waste collection and recycling sites are not always safe. There are various chemicals on such sites that can be very dangerous. Waste storage is associated with large amounts of dirt and decomposing materials, which can be dangerous to the health of employees and those living near landfills.

Insufficiently widespread
Widespread recycling is important for achieving long-term goals for nature and resource conservation. Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, garbage is dumped in unregulated landfills and landfills, which makes recycling largely meaningless.

Glass recycling is efficient and sustainable; It saves energy and natural resources. Recycling glass is an easy way to help for protecting the environment.

Glass containers are 100% recycled, which means you can recycle repeatedly, over and over again without losing the purity or quality of the glass.
Every tonne of glass that is recycled saves more than a tonne of raw materials needed to create new glass, including 1,300 pounds of sand, 410 kilograms of soda ash, and 380 kilograms of limestone.

Creating new glass means heating sand and other substances to a temperature of 2600 degrees, which requires a lot of energy and creates a lot of industrial pollution, including greenhouse gases.

This is because glass is made of natural and stable materials such as sand and limestone, glass containers have a low degree of chemical interaction with the content.

WE COLLECT BATTERIES
We hear every day about the importance of recycling. Aside from it being something that we have to do. We might not be aware that there are also huge benefits to recycling. Not only for the environment but also for us.

There might be a strong temptation to throw used ones, damaged or defective batteries in the trash, why is it important to recycle your batteries instead?

Battery recycling offers a safe and environmentally responsible solution for the end of the batteries. Certain types of batteries contain toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury. Most button cells and some alkaline batteries contain mercury.

What we need to do
Comic Panel 1
Do NOT throw them
outside in the soil
By collecting batteries we protect the environment from pollution. The batteries can be reused. They contain many heavy metals that are released into the soil, then released into the environment. From the soil, they are sucked by the plants that we humans and animals eat and harm us.

We must keep them, don't throw the batteries. A lot of people are throwing them away. Don't do this, it's not right! If we don't take care of our planet no one will do. Be careful with the environment because one day your kids will suffer.

WE COLLECT PAPER
We see paper all around our environment, and it comes in different sizes, shapes, and textures.

Hence, there’s no doubt that paper indeed, constitutes the greater part of the total garbage collected every day. Because of this, a method of solving the garbage problem brought about by the large volume of waste papers in the garbage was introduced. Recycling the waste paper is recommended. Waste Paper recycling is important because paper consists of about 35% of all the trash.

Advantages
One of the main advantages of paper surveys is that they can generate much higher response rates than web questionnaires.
Additionally, the majority of respondents often believe that printed surveys are more anonymous than online surveys, which leads to the belief that respondents may be more honest on printed surveys. Furthermore, printed surveys have the same formatting. This ensures that all respondents receive the same format and setting survey.

Further advantages compared to web surveys include:
Does not require tablets/mobile phones to complete the survey which reduces the technological investment needed.
Easy to distribute the survey across a large pool of respondents.
Surveys can be mailed by post.
Suitable for respondents that are not technology savvy (e.g. older people, disabled people, children) and surveying people in developing countries where technologies are not widely accessible.

Disadvantages
Comic Panel 1
The primary disadvantage of paper surveys is that it requires higher labor and financial investments. This is especially true if your organization is fully managing the survey process in-house. However, you can avoid this downside by working with reputable survey companies. For example, at Papersurvey.io, we handle the majority of the labor involved and minimize the manual work required - we help you to collect and analyze responses much faster - just create a paper survey online, print it, and fill it out. Paper survey responses will be automatically recognized and digitized for you to analyze them further. PaperSurvey.io is self-service software therefore it is low-cost.
Other disadvantages:
It is difficult to use logic branches/skip based on participant responses as the paper survey can't dynamically change.
It requires human labour to review responses that have low confidence (e.g. illegible handwriting, invalid responses) or responses that are not valid based on the set rules.
