Importance!
Speech Bubble
It is important to get to know your classroom as a whole because the environment can determine the safety and trust that students feel when walking in. However, it is also important to get to know individual students because creative individualized interactions humanizes their educational experiences and demonstrates to students that they are not merely a contributing statistic to the school, district, or country but rather people whose circumstances, goals, and happiness matter.
"[R]estorative justice 'is really a commitment to humanization--the support of people in their ontological vocation of becoming more fully human." (Vaandering, 2010)
