A Universal Story

Pinocchio was clever. He wanted to gain the giant’s trust. My friends and I are poor but we have some more fruit we can give it to you. You are very strong and you look to be a good man.”&nbsp; The giant felt mercy to the child. “Who are your friends? Where are they?” asked him. The child talked softly ” Nassretin and Pacala are my friends. They are very kind. They help me , because I am a child. Without them I can’t come here . We aren’t strong but you are. They are afraid of you, please be good to us. I want to find the gold coins for my old dad. I want to make him happy. And I am sure you have a big heart . You&nbsp;will help us while searching the treasure”. A drop of tear came from Tartalo’s eye. He became sorry for the child and wanted to be good. “Sure, I will little boy.&nbsp;Call your friends.”&nbsp;

Nassretin and Pacala were suprised when they met the giant. Because he didn’t look so terrifying. They offered their meal; an orange, a banana , some olives and bread. The giant ate them and thought this food was as yummy as the meat. He wouldn’t kill the small sheep , he could eat vegetables and fruit. They told about the treasure. Tartalo said” I am your friend , don’t be afraid. The treasure is up on the mountain. I will protect you against the dragon.”&nbsp;

Pacala said: So what? Do you think that he has cheated us. &nbsp;Nasreddin Hodja replied: Absolutely!

Pinocchio: "You think that you have nothing to learn. But you don’t know anything. Of course people can change. I used to lie in the past."

Knight Fulko shouted: “where is my dear wife?” Suddenly Elizabeth came out of the cave and re-embraced Knight Fulko. Pinocchio said : “Friendship always wins over everything” and proposed to organize a big party. In a short time they had organized everything and the friends celebrated all night, in the distance you could hear laughter and music.

Pinocchio asked: How can you sure? Nasreddin Hodja asked for the treasure map, put his fingers on the symbol where the treasure is, and then pointed to the big huge rock next to the cave.

Pacala and Pinoccio shouted simultaneosly “ The same symbol”. Nasreddin Hodja went on: I thought that we found the exact place when we came to&nbsp;Tartalo’s cave.Now I can understand that&nbsp;it’s not true. Dragon must have taken Tartalo’s cave.&nbsp;

Pinocchio: These cannot change the fact that Tartalo isn’t an evil man anymore. If he was still bad he wouldn’t let us be alive. 

Nasreddin Hodja told the others they should stop to argue and find a safe place where they could observe&nbsp;the cave. &nbsp;He went on :&nbsp;I will tell you the story of Fat-Fumos and Ileana Cosazena. Long years ago Fat- Frumos was able to defeat the dragon and so can we . They saw a man lying on the floor when they were looking for a safe place to observe the cave. Pacala went closer&nbsp;to him and poked. The man turned to him suddenly and pointed the sword to Pacala’s chest and shouted “ Who are you?”

Pacala replied: Pardon me , Pinocchio. As Nasreddin Hodja told us Tartalo gives harm to only sheep and children. You’re the only child among us and I don’t think he takes pleasure from eating you.

Nasreddin Hodja replied: You had better be quiet because there is a dragon and huge giant. &nbsp;The young man put down his sword lightly and said: " I have been watching this cave without sleeping for three days. I must have fallen asleep.&nbsp;

My dear wife Elizabeth is in the cave. She was taken as hostage by a one-eyed beast. The same beast&nbsp;had broken into our treasure&nbsp;room and stole all our treasure before. I managed to find it here. However there is a dragon in the cave not a one-eyed beast.I beg your pardon, by the way, I’ve forgotten to introduce myself.My name is Knight Fulko. " Pinocchio laughed loudly: Ha ha! A knight without an armour.

Suddenly,&nbsp;they heard screams and saw huge flames from the dragon's cave. Incredulous and some frightened could not understand what was happening. Pinocchio said, I believe a fierce struggle is taking place, I am sure that good will defeat evil and we will discover the intentions of those who live in this cave. After a long wait, which lasted one night and one day, Tartalo went out exhausted from the rock, the giant was crying, they all came closer to understand the reasons for his sadness. Nasreddin approached him and asked the giant "what happened"?

The giant replied,” I told the dragon I had finally found, true friends, I felt loved and respected and I wanted to fulfill your wishes. I wanted to make you happy, but he was going to kill you all with my complicity.”

At the end the giant&nbsp;said:” I killed him to save you dear friends and my treasure is yours”

Pinocchio suggested his friends Nassredin and Pacala, to hide he would talk with Tartalo because he can’t eat him as he is wooden. They agrred. So “hey big man, what are you looking for?” shouted Pinocchio.&nbsp;

“ I smell fresh meat,&nbsp;and I am so hungry . I am looking for some fresh meat?” answered Tartalo. The little child said “ I don’t have meat, but I have this beautiful red apple. It is very delicious, please take this.” The giant was suprised, how a little child could be brave enough to talk to him. Nobody had talked to him before and this boy was very lovely. He took the apple from him.”&nbsp;I have never eaten any fruit before but I like your friendship and will try it”.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Nassredin and Pacala were watching them silently. Tartola ate the apple and asked “I am still hungry and it is yummy. Where can I get more?”

Whenever I lied my nose would become longer and longer. And then the Blue Fairy would come and give advices about being a good boy to me.I am not&nbsp;lying anymore.

Nasreddin Hodja replied: You’re right Pinoccio. People can change, if we assume that Tartalo is a human.&nbsp;of course he can change. Pacala asked Nasreddin Hodja : “What’s the reason that you are so suspicious?’

Nasreddin Hodja replied:I was thinking like you in the beginning until we stayed at the cave at night. The walls caught my attention there. It looked like as if it was the dragon ‘s cave.There were full of smoke stains at the walls and ashes everywhere. Pinocchio went on: But there were sheep&nbsp;bones everywhere in the cave. It was definitely Tartalo’s cave. Pacala added : Yes, but&nbsp;I think the dragon also eats sheep meat.&nbsp; Nasreddin Hodja said ‘Absolutely, Pacala I might have misunderstood. However, we came here. It’s all clear now.I’m totally sure now.&nbsp;

Once upon a time, an old man, called Nasredin Hoca, was travelling with his beloved donkey, from Turkey to Italy. One day, during his trip, Nasredin decided to stop for a while, to replenish food and water. There he met a child, sitting on a rock, the boy was wearing a white shirt a black vest and short, red trousers. The boy was alone and Nasredin asked him "Why are you alone, what's your name?"The boy laughed loud!!!! Nasdredin Hoca got on his donkey the wrong way, facing towards the back. The boy asked Hoca, "Why are you sitting on your donkey backwards?" "No", he replied, "It isn't that I'm sitting on the donkey backwards, the donkey is facing in the wrong way". At the point, the little boy said: "Well, I am Pinocchio and I'm looking for gold coins, I've heard about a treasure buried, somewhere, on a turkish mountain. I'd like to take some gold coins and bring them to Italy".

Both, Pinocchio and Nasreddin tried to read the paper, the notes on the paper were all written in a secret code, but Hocak new the secret code, and they followed the instructions laid out on the paper.&nbsp;

He had a map, which revealed the location of treasure,&nbsp;but the document was written in a strange language. 

After a few hours of searching, they managed to find a cave, in front of the cave there was an enormously strong one-eyed sleeping giant. Nassredin told his friends that he had heard about a greatgiant “Tartalo” which had slain, murdered and devoured much people of the country. They didn’t know how to enter the cave, without awaking the giant, but Pinocchio had an idea. The little boy thought they could dug a deep hole in the ground and catch the giant. They dug a hole and covered the top, so when the giant would walk over it, he would be caught in the trap. Suddenly, the giant awoke, and said: “I smell fresh meat!”&nbsp;

But, dear child, are your parents still alive?" Pinocchio replied: "My father is, but I've never known my mother". So, both decided to travel together and the man put the boy on the donkey and they went on their way. They hadn't gone far when they met a young man, his name was Pacala, the young man was desperate, because he couldn't understand the symbols written on some papers.

The boy wanted to buy a new coat for is father. "And what's your name, my friend? Where are you going? Can I come with you?", asked the puppet in a low voice. The man replied: "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't even introduce myself! I'm Nasreddin Hoca, and I'm going to Italy, I've always wanted to visit Italy, and I'm sure there's a lot to see and to do.

Suddenly, Hoca,called out: “Hey man, what are you doing? “ "Let us know if there's anything we can do to help?” The young man was not sure he could trust them.&nbsp;

Pacala was looking for a hidden treasure, gold and jewels, he thought the best thing he could do, was accepting&nbsp;help. Pacala informed Hoca and Pinocchio, about the presence of a hidden treasure.
