The Sloth
Sloths are a group of mammals within the suborder Folivora. They typically reside in the rainforests of Central and South America.
Sloths are mainly noted for their slowness in movement, hence the name "sloths". They spent most of their time hanging upside down!
Sloths are arboreal, meaning they live in trees.
Types of Sloths
Two-toed sloths
These sloths are capable of climbing and positioning themselves vertically, but they spend most of their time hanging horizontally. They use their hook-like extremities to move along branches.
Types of Sloths
Three-toed sloths
These types of sloths often sit in the forks of trees instead of hanging on the branches.
The Sloths Diet
Sloths are herbivores, mainly eating flower buds, tender roots, and leaves from trees.
Sloth's can take up to 30 days to digest one leaf!
