Berners-Lee class enjoyed experimenting how magnetic forces can act at a distance. We tested 5 different magnets and used a ruler to measure the height at which each magnet could attract a paper clip!

Thank you for all your support this half term, especially for the special dressing up and charity days. It has been a busy half term with the children enjoying a number of trips and special events ie Number Day, Forest school, farm visit, space odyssey, Mining workshop, Anglo Saxon workshop, 'Hero's without capes' and much more. We are looking forward to a busy 2nd half of the term. Some reminders: IMPORTANT - Please can we remind parents that we are a nut free school and to ensure that no products with any nuts are brought into school. We would also like to remind you that we encourage children to bring in a healthy packed lunch which can contain a small treat but we would encourage children not to bring in sweets which are high in sugar. Monday 19th is an INSET day (school closed) From Tuesday 20th Early birds drop is through the main school office (Letter sent out via Dojo and Arbor email). As part of Science this week, Newton class  explored our sense of smell and taste.  We discussed how our taste buds pick out sour, bitter, sweet and salty flavours when we eat and used our noses to smell a variety of things (some not as nice as others!)

For our 'fabulous finish' this half term, Berners-Lee Class enjoyed their trip to Nansledan Park. We had so much fun exploring forces in motion as part of our Science learning!

Curie class loved learning about STEAM careers in Newquay! Today they became satellite engineers. Thank you, Spaceport!

Marconi class explored how magnetic force can work at a distance. They were fantastic investigators with lots of very valid results. Well done Marconi 😃 #STEAMeducation #futurescientists The have also been exploring the STEAM career Meteorologist. We have been applying our knowledge of climate zones to establish a realistic 1 day weather report for our chosen area. "Tapestry keeps you in touch with your child’s day wherever you are"

Tapestry is an easy-to-use and secure online learning journal that helps staff and families across Aspire academies celebrate their children’s learning and development in Reception Class. As parents, the first day of handing over your child to the care of another can be an emotional time. As your child adjusts to experiences without you at their childminder, nursery, or school, parents continue to want to share in these times. Tapestry facilitates this by enabling a personal journal, or diary, to build over time. Photographs, videos and notes of special moments are not only recorded, but can be made available regularly and often immediately to you via your iPhone or Android App.

Reporting Absences If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, then please inform the office before 9.00am in the morning, and let us know why your child is going to be absent, and when you expect them to return. You may either phone the office on 01637 829298 and leave a message or alternatively send an email to hello@nansledanschool.org When reporting an absence, please leave a message on each day of your child's absence, telling us: - Your child's name -&nbsp;Class name/Year group - Why they are absent (Type of illness e.g sickness, migraine) - When you expect them to return Classroom doors open at 8.35am 8.35am to 8.45 registers are open 8.45am to 9.00am are coded as late but authorised Any lates after 9.00am are coded as unauthorised Children who do not arrive via the classroom door at this time will need to enter via the school office ans will receive a late mark.

The children in Fleming Class loved coming in to school in number themed clothes and creating wonderful ‘guess my number’ headbands!

Google Classroom - Enhancing connections with learners from school, from home, or on the go.

Think of Google Classroom as your child’s digital link to learning. Teachers use Google Classroom to share resources, links and assignments with pupils during lessons at school across the curriculum. KS2 teachers will use Google Classroom to share homework with students and parents. It is a great tool for keeping up to date with your child’s learning.

Year 2 have been working on their gymnastics skills this half term. They have focussed on being ‘champion gymnasts’ by developing their skills of balance, movement and by sequencing gymnastic style moves.
