Today we are confronted with an unprecedented crisis- the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world in a way no one could have ever anticipated. Every sector has been scathed by the diabolic hit of Novel corona virus and education sector is no exception. With closure of schools due to complete or partial lockdown, the anxiety among students and parents has intensified. In all crises there are truly the seeds of good things and great ideas to propagate in infinite ways. Crises often act as the forcing mechanism behind expeditious innovations and out of crises emerge new and incredible opportunities. KVS has grown stronger amidst disruptions and uncertainties by embracing technology with open arms, setting an example for other educational institutes to follow.

Silver Lining

Online classes, virtual platforms and digital classrooms which seemed a distant reality a year ago, have become the part and parcel of our lives today. Virtual platforms have opened new avenues to both teachers and students to explore interesting, innovative, and interactive methods of learning. Along with catering to the academic needs of the students, KVS has systematically adapted methods of shifting most of the school activities which normally take place in the physical face-to-face mode to the online platform. This paradigm shift has provided ample opportunities to the KV students to enhance their literary acumen, cultural talents, and artistic skills even in this dismal situation.

KVS has now come out with yet another innovative idea of bringing out an eBook to provide an opportunity to its students to share their COVID experiences and describe the various strategies adopted by them to overcome the challenges faced by them.

'Silver Lining' - the eBook of KVS Ernakulam Region is a collection of creative and literary works of the young budding writers, poets and artists of this region that will transport the readers into their world of experience, imagination, ecstasy and emotional rapture. I congratulate the young talents for their valuable contributions and also appreciate the guiding hands that helped them unleash their hidden talents.

My warm wishes to the principals, staff and students of KVS Ernakulam Region to continue their journey on the road of excellence.

Life often takes unexpected turns compelling us to face various challenging experiences but what is more important in such situations is our perception of the happening. The way one copes with an unprecedented situation makes all the difference. All our problems and challenges are merely lessons for our self-evolution. These testing times provide opportunities for self-growth. The pandemic COVID-19 has also altered our lives in more ways than one can imagine but at the same time the challenge has compelled us to espouse various 21st century skills essential to keep pace with today’s technological era.

Silver Lining

e-learning has emerged as the best way of imparting education in this grim situation. KVS has left no stones unturned to provide the best innovative ways to reach out to its students using various digital platforms. Through a multitude of online programmes KVS has also channelised the young energy fruitfully by engaging KV students in constructive activities. We have to ensure that the academic session 2020-21 must not go down in history only as a period of unparalleled separation, emotional chaos and psychological crisis but it should also be recorded as a period of great courage, innovation, learning and collaboration.

'Silver Lining'- e-Book of KVS Ernakulam region is a compilation of literary works and artistic talents that translates the COVID experiences of the KV students of our region. The students have used popular social media formats to unfold their narration of hope, resilience and inspiration, during the COVID pandemic.

I congratulate the students, teachers and all others who are instrumental in bringing out this commendable piece of work.

'Siver Lining'- the eBook presented by KVS Ernakulam Region - showcases the creative expressions of the upcoming writers and the grassroot level artists of the different schools under this Region. It is their focused response to the all-inclusive stimulation received and perceived from their much-disturbed environment during the Covid 19 pandemic. This magazine includes their reaction to their world turning topsy turvy at the hands of the master juggler called Fate, who finds immense joy in changing human life, but never in pre-determined course.

Silver Lining

With time in their hands and mobility restricted, many found solace in innovative, creative pursuits. The students were ready for this creation. They only had to be gently prodded in the right direction. A nudge here, a pointer there, a pat on the shoulder, or a smile was enough to urge them towards imaginative and productive fervour. Their enthusiasm knew no bounds as they took a dip into the surreal world of fantasy. The result, this magazine.

Thus, this magazine became a launchpad of their thoughts and aspirations, spreading its wings into a flight of imagination and soaring into hitherto unknown realms.

We at KVS RO, Ernakulam, appreciate and applaud the fine blend of the sensibilities latent in each child which helped them to transform negative into positive, transmute baser feelings into the golden.

It gives me pride and immense pleasure to believe that this magazine has triumphantly achieved its goal.

I acknowledge the efforts of all those who contributed to this as well as the members of the editorial board who gave it a final shape.

I wish them all success.

कोविड महामारी निश्चय ही इस सदी की सबसे अनोखी घटना है| समाज पर इसका बहुआयामी प्रभाव रहा है |इसने चेतना के स्तर पर मानव को प्रभावित किया है| मनुष्य अपने अस्तित्व पर ही पुनः विचार करने को विवश हो गया है | इस विशाल प्रकृति में वह कितना अकिंचन है, इसका अनुभव करा दिया है| लेकिन इतिहास साक्षी है कि मनुष्य की जिजीविषा ने हमेशा ही विकट परिस्थितियों से संघर्ष करके विजय प्राप्त की है|अत: समय के चलते निश्चय ही हम इस विकट परिस्थिति से जूझकर आगे बढ़ते जाएँगे ।

इस दौरान हम विद्यालय स्तर पर छात्रों के दृष्टिकोण से सोचें तो उनके ऊपर भी इस महामारी का चहुँमुखी प्रभाव रहा है ।“चिंता रहित खेलना-खाना, वह फिरना निर्भय स्वच्छंद” सा उनका बचपन तो बुरी तरह प्रभावित हो गया है ।इस महामारी ने एक तरह उनके पंख ही काट दिए हैं। लेकिन अपनी कल्पना के पंख पसार कर उड़ने से उन्हें कोई महामारी रोक नहीं सकती। बच्चे अपनी भोली दुनिया की अनोखी कल्पनाओं से हमेशा ही बड़ों को चकित करते आए हैं ।ऐसी ही विकट परिस्थितियों में अज्ञातवास में कैद रहने के लिए विवश एन फ्रैंक ने अपनी डायरी से पूरे विश्व को ही चमत्कृत एवं सम्मोहित कर दिया था। इस ई-पत्रिका के द्वारा हमारा विनम्र प्रयास छात्रों के अंदर इस महामारी के चतुर्मुखी प्रभाव को उनके दृष्टिकोण से देखना है, उनको अभिव्यक्ति का एक माध्यम प्रदान करना है , उनकी दुनिया को टटोल कर देखना है, जिनसे हम बड़े कभी अनभिज्ञ रहते हैं ।छात्रों की रचनाओं से गुजरते समय आप पाएँगे कि जहाँ उनमें महामारी का गहरा प्रभाव नजर आता है, वहाँ सकारात्मक चिंतन के साथ इन सब से बाहर निकल सकने की उम्मीद भी परिलक्षित होती है ।उम्मीद है कि आप उनके सृजन संसार से गुज़रेंगे और अपने विचारों से हमें लाभान्वित करेंगे ।
