BODRUM Touristic Places by TED Bodrum College

1. Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology is a wonderful museum is a captivating place to visit. It is the largest museum in the world dedicated to underwater archaeology. Perusing its ancient vases, jewelry and extensive collection of glassware, is as interesting as it is educational and offers up an amazing glimpse at some of the finds that have been discovered beneath the waves. It also exhibits a tomb of a Carian princess as well as a delightful old chapel which houses findings from the Mycenaean Age, which occurred from the 14th to 12th centuries BC!

Ingredients 600 grams of okra 1 medium size onion 3 large size tomatoes 5 tablespoons olive oil 1/2 tablespoon of tomato paste 1/2 tablespoon pepper paste 1/2 of lemon juice 1 teaspoon of chili peppers 2 teaspoons of salt 1 cube sugar cubes 1.5 cup hot water

Recipe Peel the onion and tomatoes into small cubes. Using a knife, clean the head of the gumbo without getting too deep. Rinse thoroughly. Take olive oil, tomato paste and onions into a medium pot. Roast the onions until light pink. Then add the tomatoes that you have cut into cubes. Mix and close the lid. When the tomatoes begin to melt slightly, add the okra. Mix gently, add salt, lemon juice and sugar. Finally add water to the ingredients and leave to cook over medium heat. Serve hot or cold after cooking. Enjoy your meal.

Ingredients 4 fresh whole&nbsp;artichokes 1 cup rice, washed and drained 1 onion, finely chopped 2 Tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped 3-4 pieces green onions, chopped 1 tsp salt ½ tsp cumin ½ tsp dried mint ¼ tsp black pepper 1 lemon’s juice 1/3 cup olive oil

Recipe Cut the stalks of the artichokes and remove the tips of the leaves with scissors. Remove the bottom layer of the leaves as well. Open the middle of the artichokes and remove the purple hairy part with a teaspoon. Drizzle some lemon juice in the middle part to prevent browning. Mix all the stuffing ingredients and fill the artichokes starting from the middle and going towards the outer leaves. Open up the leaves and try to fill in each leaf even though it is not much. Place them in a pot and fill it with hot water until the half of the artichokes. Add some salt and lemon into the water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 1-1 ½ hours. Occasionally, spoon some water and pour over the artichokes to prevent them from drying. Serve them either hot or warm. ENJOY

Ankara Castle&nbsp;(Turkish:&nbsp;Ankara Kalesi) is a historic fortification in the city of&nbsp;Ankara&nbsp;in&nbsp;Turkey. It was founded in the 8th century BC by the&nbsp;Phrygians&nbsp;and rebuilt in 278 BC by the&nbsp;Galatians. The castle underwent several renovations during the&nbsp;Roman,&nbsp;Byzantine,&nbsp;Seljuk, and&nbsp;Ottoman&nbsp;eras. Don't forget to visit and see its beautiful view.

*First, add 3 tablespoons of butter in the saucepan *Second, add 3 tablepoons of corn flour *And stir it for 5 minutes over medium heat *Then, pour two glasses hot water *Then, add two teaspoon of salt.

*After that, add the grated cheese. *Finally, cook it until the cheese melt. *It is ready to serve. ENJOY IT.

Our project students' thoughts about ANKARA

"Paradise Beach" in Gaj is located on a 7 km long tributary of the Danube. This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Danube in Serbia. In a natural environment, with a slightly sloping shore sprinkled with gravel, there is a small restaurant with straw umbrellas and space for campers, with a motonautics and fishing club. The possibilities for water sports are unlimited. This place is also one of the most famous fishing destinations on the South Banat bank of the Danube.

More than a year and a half ago, the 7th of July Street, the popular "Surduk" was completely reconstructed. The street that connects the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel with the center of the city got a new face, but also a new purpose. Once a mockery in the center, it has now been turned into a pedestrian zone, which is decorated with colorful umbrellas and murals with Banat motifs painted by local artists. Such a beautifully landscaped street provides an opportunity to organize exhibitions, outdoor fairs, promotions, manifestations and events that will enrich the social and cultural offer of the municipality of Kovin.

As a Hocus Pocus SCOPUS project team, we held a webinar about 'Tourist Destinations Traditional Foods' of the partner cities/countries. Our students introduce their places. After that, we created three mixed teams. Team Hocus(prepared videos about the places), Team Pocus(prepared posters about the places) and Team Scopus(prepared and shared the word clouds about the places with the partners). We used Keamk for matching. Here is the list of the matched schools.

Kakheti is in the east of Georgia. It is popular with wine. In case you didn’t know, wine is kind of a big deal in Georgia – one of the first countries in the world to pioneer viniculture. Georgian wine is made by fermenting whole grapes (stems, skins and all) in an underground clay vessel called a&nbsp;qvevri. 

Wine and worship go hand in hand in Kakheti. The area is also famous for its churches perched proudly on mountain tops, including Gremi and Nekresi Monastery.&nbsp;

1. To make the starter: Cream the yeast with the milk in a bowl, add the flour and stir. Cover and let stand for 15-30 minutes, until bubbles are formed. 2. To make the dough: Mix the flours with the salt in a bowl. Stir the honey and butter into the milk. Combine the mixtures, gradually adding the starter. Knead on a hard surface for 10 minutes, shape into a ball, cover, and leave to rise for an hour or until doubled in bulk. 3. Punch down, knead lightly for 1-2 minutes, return to the bowl, cover, and leave to rise again.

4. Preheat the oven to 200C while you shape the dough like this: make a log, divide into 24 equal parts, roll each into a thin strip, and twist like a horse-shoe. 5. Arrange the pretzels on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper, brush with egg (if using), and bake for 20 minutes. 6. To make the glaze: Combine the dry ingredients and stir in as much water as needed to make a thin batter -as you would do for pancakes. Brush the pretzels with some of this mixture and return the baking sheets to the oven for 3-4 minutes.

Recipe: 1-)First, boil the chicken. 2-)Second, a tablespoon of tomato paste. 3-)Then add chili pepper, one and a half tablespoon of butter and two tablespoon of flour.

4-) Then mix the flour in butter in a separate pot.&nbsp; 5) Next mix the mixture with chicken and cook it for 30 minutes 6-)Finally, add six cups of chicken broth or hot water.

Roman Bath is located in Sarıkaya, Yozgat.&nbsp;It is also known as the King's Daughter Bath. It is in Unesco World Heritage. Its ancient name is "Basilica Therma".&nbsp;

Sarıkaya was an important spa center in that time.&nbsp;Most of the bath was destroyed.&nbsp;Only the wall in the west survived.

Vardzia was set in 12th century by Georgian Queen Tamari. It was another „cave village“. Georgians built&nbsp;protecting buildings, because of usual war and attacks. Vardzia has more than 6000 individual „apartments“, church and irrigation system.

1.Çökertme kebabı consists of marinated strips of veal that are served with tiny fried potatoes, tomato sauce, and yogurt. The marinade is usually made with milk, olive oil, cumin, salt, and paprika, while the yogurt sauce that's served with the dish is enriched with garlic and salt.&nbsp;

2. Kadinbudu köfte (lit. lady’s thigh köfte) is a Turkish dish made with ground beef or lamb, rice, onions, eggs, flour, oil, and various spices. It is believed that the unusual name stems from the Ottoman era because it resembled women’s thighs at the time.

The ruins of the ancient coastal city Teos are today near the village of Sigacik in&nbsp;Seferihisar&nbsp;town, Izmir. According to the city's history, Herodotus listed this city among 12 Ionian cities. Places to be visited include the famous Temple of Dionysus, the theatre which has a capacity of around 500, the agora, the city walls, the remnants of the port, the bouleuterion, and the gymnasium. In the port, which acted as a naval base in Ottoman times, a castle built in 1522 has survived to our day.

Anıtkabir came about as an idea of and from the desires of the Turkish people to erect a mausoleum for Gazi Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk), the founder of the Turkish Republic, a revolutionary, a brave soldier, a great leader and an international figure. Anıtkabir, situated on a hill called Rasattepe behind the Maltepe area of Ankara, covers 700.000 square metres of land and includes a Peace Park, which contains plants from all parts of Turkey and the world. It took nine years to complete the mausoleum.

RECIPE Firstly, we get wet the bulgur. Secondly, we chop the onions and peppers. Then we add them in bulgur and mix. Then we grind the mixture and the liver. Next, we mix them all with salt, oil and chilli pepper. Finally, we make rolls and boil them. And it is ready. Enjoy it! :)

Kovin - Our traditional food and touristic attractions

Konya Ereğli İvriz Hittite Monuments

The monument is located near the İvriz village, 12 km to Ereğli, Konya. The relief is about 4.20 meter tall and 2.40 meters wide and carved on the rock walls near a large spring. It shows Warpalawa, King of Tuwana, worshipping the god Tarhunza who holds ears of wheat in one hand and bunches of grapes in the other. The god wears a horned helmet, a symbol of divinity. 

Students' thoughts about Izmir

Founded in 1050-1000 BC, Teos was one of the 12 cities in antique Ionia. It is also known as the city of Dionysus, the god of wine in mythology. Teos is also the city of artists, where the first players' guild was formed in history.

2. Bodrum Castle is the most popular tourist attraction in Bodrum – and with good reason. Built between 1402 and 1437 by the Knights of St John, its domineering walls are remarkably well-preserved, considering their age. Its fantastic turrets and towers only add to the castle’s magnificent appearance. A couple of them are named the French and English Tower;

3. Windmills - Perched atop a hill overlooking Bodrum, Gumbet and even the Greek island of Kos, the old windmills are in various states of repair, with some of them well preserved and others looking much the worse for wear. Gleaming in the sun, their whitewashed walls stand out against the blue skies above them and the sun-bleached grasses surrounding them.

4. Bodrum Amphitheater - Dating all the way back to the 4th century BC, this lovely amphitheater was built during Roman times and – while it may be quite small – it is definitely worth checking out. Very well preserved, the steps and seats of the amphitheater are built into the hillside.

Black Pond was&nbsp;named&nbsp;after&nbsp;unpleasant&nbsp;events in&nbsp;the past. It is is one of the oldest&nbsp;reservoirs&nbsp;in&nbsp;Vojvodina. Black Pond is&nbsp;also a favorite&nbsp;place for&nbsp;hunters and&nbsp;fishermen. It is a favorite&nbsp;place for&nbsp;excursions for&nbsp;locals and&nbsp;passers-by.

Dunavac is&nbsp;located not far&nbsp;from the&nbsp;center of&nbsp;Kovin. Here you can&nbsp;walk, run and&nbsp;fish. Also here you&nbsp;can moor&nbsp;your boats. Different&nbsp;species of&nbsp;birds can be&nbsp;seen here. These are&nbsp;storks, gulls,&nbsp;herons and&nbsp;ducks. Come to&nbsp;Dunavac&nbsp;and&nbsp;enjoy its&nbsp;beauties.

One of the first seven churches of Christianity, founded by St. Paul in Western Anatolia, is in the city of Thyateira.&nbsp;Some of the remains belonging to the city of Thyateira can be seen at the Tepe Mezarı location in the city center of Akhisar today.

Thyateira the ancient name of the district of Akhisar.&nbsp;The city is one of the most important settlements of the Lydian state and the Kingdom of Pergamon.&nbsp;The city was called by this name throughout the Roman Empire until the Byzantine period.&nbsp;

Ingredients 4 lamb shanks 3 cups barley noodles 2 dry onions 4 green peppers 3 tomatoes (grated) 3 cloves (chopped) 2 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 tablespoon of pepper paste 1 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup oil 3.5 cups of hot water

In a saucepan, fry the noodles with oil and 1 tablespoon of butter until they change color. After they change color, remove from the heat and spread the noodles on a tray that can enter the oven. Half-cook the lamb shanks in a pot for 20-25 minutes, evenly browning all sides. In a separate pan, fry the onions with 1 tablespoon of butter until they turn pink. Add the peppers and garlic on the onions, add the tomato and pepper paste over it and add the grated tomato by roasting until it smells. While the grated tomatoes are cooking, pour 1/2 cup of hot water over the sauce and boil it for a while, then remove it from the heat. Pour the tomato sauce from the stove over the roasted barley noodles and mix. Then, line the lamb shanks on the vermicelli and add enough hot water. Cook in an oven at 190 degrees for 40 minutes until the meats are cooked and the noodles absorb the water and serve hot.

Some traditional food in Georgia

Churchkhela is for winter celebrations, Christmas and new year. It is a very traditional food in Georgia and it is very tasty. Churchkhela is made of grapes’ juice and nuts. In old days, when we had war, soldiers were taking churchkhela, because it is easy to take it with them, also it is very nutritious.&nbsp;

Khachapuri is the most popular Georgian food in Georgia and in all over the world. There are no special days to make khachapuri, but we have it at every celebration. It is made of cheese and dough, there are a lot of types of khachapuri according to Georgia’s regions.&nbsp;

Most popular food among both Georgians and tourists. the name of this food is ,,Khinkali’’, khinkali is some kind of round-shaped dough, with mixed meat, papers and other spices inside, It is one of the oldest and traditional food from Georgia.

Opinions of our project students

It is a crater lake in Bitlis Province in Turkey. It is the largest crater lake in Turkey and second in Europa. In this region of lakes, there are 3 lakes. One of them is hot, others are cold. 

You can do many activities here. You can go trekking, camping, and scuba diving. In winter, you can also go skiing. This place has so many beauties, different kinds of plants and animals. So it will be a good choice to visit here.
