How to use this Book.
Loading...
1. This book is a template and made to be shared with the class. Teachers may wish to add more instructions using the sound feature or add / delete pages to tailor the project to their class group.

2. The project has been designed for a garden walk. Any outdoor space will work as long as it has objects to count like plants, flowers, trees, sticks, leaves, rocks etc. Garden objects should also feature a range of colours and sizes.

3. Students will need to record the name, tally mark, number and photo for each object (see video). They may also like to record the name of the object using the sound feature. Then students will graph the data on the bar graph provided by adjusting the top of the bar (see video).

4. The book also has a number of exercises on sorting and representing data which link to the Australian curriculum. The โ€œunderstanding dataโ€ page features questions for students to answer that will help teachers make judgements on their progress and understanding of the concepts.

5. This book is part of a series on Digital Technology. Other titles include Learning to Code, My Data Story and Learning about Digital Systems.
