Welcome to the Daily Beaver
Dear Wood Beavers,
welcome to the Daily Beaver! The Journalism team has worked hard to create this issue. Inside, you will find fun articles such as reviews, trends, along with more serious articles based on what is happening at Wood and in our community. The Daily Beaver is our online newspaper and will publish every two weeks with fresh articles! You can also check out our Beaver Bugle, which will be published every trimester. You can find printed copies to read in your classrooms. We hope you enjoy our new edition of the Daily Beaver!

Community service
President's Corner
Hey Beavers! In order to promote from middle school, you must have community service hours. Here are ways to earn hours!
Community Service Reminders + Opportunity
via Counselor Ro
All 8th graders need 10 hours of community service to promote in June.
Sixth and 7th graders need the full 20 hours by spring of their 8th grade year.
Students are encouraged to start early by doing 5 hours of service in 6th grade and 10 hours of service in 7th grade. You can easily split up the hours any way that works for you, the idea is to do them early so that you don’t have to rush to do them all during your last year of middle school. Look out for opportunities as the year goes on through ParentSquare, classrooms, and posted flyers. In addition, feel free to volunteer with an organization/activity of your choice that is safe and appropriate for your middle schooler.
Students can pick up a community service hours log form from Ro in the media center or any staff member in the office. When completed, submit to the main office. If you have any questions or opportunities you want to share with others, come see Counselor Ro in the media center or email.

Welcome back to the President’s Corner!
First off, congratulations to newly elected 6th grade rep Perla and Leo and for 7th, Corey and Melissa.
Student Council had meetings November 10 & 15. The topics included: the dance, the bake sale, and the kindness candygrams. Unfortunately, the dance has been postponed to January 26. But don’t fret! It’ll be a blast!
We’ve decided to put on a kindness candygram event, taking place on November 28 & 29 during lunch. As usual, students will be able to send candygrams to friends, but they are requested to add a positive message! Please be appropriate as well as kind.
Student Council is looking forward to December 8 for a bake sale! All members are going to contribute baked or store bought goods for students to purchase after school. Beverages will be sold too. Be on the lookout!
That’s a wrap on the President’s Corner, see you next time!
