What Fauna is there?
All along Crosby Beach you can find; Jellyfish, Seagulls, Razor shells, Crabs and dogs that are walked on the beach.

Fun Fact: In 2011-2012 4,000 tons of sand and bricks were moved to Crosby Beach as a flood defence for Hightown.

Recreational Activities

Crosby Beach is used for many recreational activities. There are often Kite displays on windy weekends, the Crosby Beach Park Run is a great way to exercise and enjoy the beach at the same time. The beach is also used by many schools in the surrounding area for trips. In 2012 a number of schools got together and created an image of the Olympic Rings along the beach.

Anthony Gormley

Antony Gormley is a British sculptor and artist. He is famous for working on many famous landmarks in England such as the Angel of the North. In 2005, Another Place arrived at Crosby Beach, Liverpool.

Angel of the North

There are 100 iron men statues placed across 2.5 miles of the beach.

In 2008 The Daily Telegraph ranked Antony Gormley number 4 in the "100 most powerful people in British Culture".

Transport

Blundellsands and Crosby Train Station

The train station is less than a 10 minute walk to the beach at Crosby.

Another form of transport that goes to Crosby beach is public buses, the buses can run from Liverpool or Southport and take you within minutes of the beach. Crosby also has a car park with access to public toilets.

How can people conserve this place

Conserving the natural places in our community is very important and thankfully there are lots of ways that each of us can help. Each year there is an organised 'Crosby Beach Clean Up' where members of the community give up their time to come and collect rubbish off the beach.

Although this event only happens twice a year, people can come and clean the beach at any time. Some local residents get out as often as once a week to pick up rubbish off the beaches to stop it being washed out to sea and protect our wildlife. It is important that everyone does their bit to protect our natural spaces and preserve them for generations to come.
