3rd Grade
How do we learn about the past, especially before history was recorded? What connects ancient and modern people? Third graders have been exploring these questions and more through the study of archaeology. We have been excited to examine the artifacts of DIS staff, petroglyphs in Korea, and more! We are ready to begin exploring ancient and modern civilizations as archaeologists!

Miss Prestia’s 2nd Grade Class
Second graders have completed their first full cycle of the writing process! We celebrated by sharing our first published stories with our classroom friends. We also recorded ourselves reading our stories, and were able to listen to everyone's story read aloud! What a great celebration!

Second Grade
Grade 2 looks a little different this year! You'll no longer find standard desks and chairs in rooms 104 or 105. In their place are a variety of seating options which include yoga balls, yoga matts, swivel stools, standing tables, lowered tables, cushions, and bean bags. 2nd graders are enjoying the freedom to choose a comfortable spot where they work best. Flexible seating is off to a great start this year!

Miss Stark- World History
Archaeologists for a day!
In August, students in Ms. Stark’s World History course got to be archaeologists for the day. Each group invented a culture and decorated a clay pot with symbols of their culture. Then, they smashed their pots and passed pieces to another group who tried to piece them together and find clues about language, religion, government, and other traits of the culture. Students learned that archaeology is a challenging but important part of learning about our past.
