April 20th, 1543

It was march 9th 1534 when I was assigned the task of finding a quicker trade route to Asia. Since then I have found a sponsor, a crew, and 2 ships. It is now April 20th and we are ready to set sail! Wish us luck! Bye for now,
Jacques Cartier.
May 10th, 1534

We have been on the water for 20 days and now, we have arrived in some weird place. I was trying to find a faster trade route to Asia, and now I have arrived in this new land. I have used my compass to guide me. Along the way I have traded items for gold and spices, as well as explore. I have to continue to explore this new area and see what it can bring to the people of France, bye for now.

July 24th, 1534

It’s been about 2 months since we have arrived. When I last spoke to you I had just arrived in this new land. Now, we have travelled along the coast and are now in Gaspe Bay. I have started to develop a map of what I have seen, for future explorers to see. I have just put up my cross to mark this territory for the people of France. Until next time.

Yesterday day I had just marked this territory as mine but today, I encountered these people who are wild and savage. Their skin is red and they wear very little clothes. They seem to be nice. We were greeted by these people and have established trading with them. I hope they don’t get mad that this land is now mine. I think I might call this place the countries of Canadas. Now, I must say goodbye.

For future explorers, this is where I have been and what I have seen. Use this map to explore even more! Until my next voyage!
