C3/3 Online Activity
10.15 h: The students enter the breakout rooms and work for 1,45 hour.
Each student, whose number has been assigned by their own school, enters the corresponding room + one teacher from each partner school (for example, Room 1/breaking out session 1: all the number 1; Room 2/breaking session: all the number 2, etc.)
Once in the groups, after the students introduce themselves (name and school), the student from Greece nominated as Coordinator will propose a starting point for the storytelling activity and will sketch the composition frame of the story.
In each group there will be a student Writer/Secretary who will keep notes of the essential parts of the story, and then this student will also be the Presenter of a short report of the story when back into the main Room.
The teachers would supervise the timing and support the students if necessary.
The story will include a conflict between parties, one or two mediators, mediation and resolution of the conflict.
12:00 h: All students and teachers will come back into the Main Session.
The Presenters of each group will briefly report the story created by their own group (10 minutes maximum per report).
13:00 h: Farewell and conclusion of the activities.
Enjoy!

No Rubbish On The Beach
Session
1
Early in the morning, George, Maria, Katarina, Michael and Nik were walking on the street and would have liked to spend a day in the sunshine, on the beach. After their arrival, they immediately noticed a group of young people listening to loud music and making a mess with their rubbish: there were empty plastic bottles, dirty dishes and towels, smoked cigarettes everywhere….
Our friends didn’t know how to organize a correct reaction. They were tempted to go away but after a short change of words among them, they decided to do something. They could not leave like this and pretending not to care.
George, Michael and Nik started picking up the rubbish and Maria and Katarina decided to start a conversation with the messy and dirty young people”.
Maria: “Excuse me but we find no place for our sun umbrella and our stuff. Why are you behaving like this? There’s a mess everywhere!”.
One of the messy guys, whose name is Paul, answered: “We arrived here before you and we don’t care about you. This is our place since we were children, we can decide how to mess it up as we desire.
Maria: “It’s not an answer….Why are you so angry with the whole world?”
A girl from the messy group, Sonia: “Paul is right. We are the owners of this place!!! What do you want?”
Our friends didn’t know what to do and what to say….Suddenly they remembered something about the messy group: they had been excluded from a great party organized on the beach some weeks before….Everyone in the age between 15 and 20 was there but no one from the messy group. Why? Simply because George and Katarina, the organisators, had forgotten them…..
Katarina: “I am sorry for what happened some weeks ago...we forgot to invite your group...please forgive us but your way to react cannot be the right one. The environment is very important and if you have something against us, you cannot make all this mess!!! There are also other people attending this place. If we behaved wrong with you, it’s not right that you make this place dirty”.
At the very beginning, no one of the “messy” group answered. They just looked down...avoiding to communicate.
Paul: “Yes, you are right….but it was very annoying for us to be forgotten...anyhow, everybody can make a mistake, so we accept your being sorry...I have a proposal: would you help us to clean up the mess we made on the beach…??? It was a way to attract people’s attention...to say that WE EXIST!!!”
All together: “Of course we are going to help you!!!!”
Paul and the messy group: “ok, thank you!!!”

2 hours later, the beach was perfectly clean and the two groups were playing and having fun together….!!

Emily and Mat have been married for 18 years and they have two children, a boy and a girl aged 15 and 16. Mia, 15, and Lucas. 16. They are very competitive with each other.
Lucas has already done a study trip in Dublin when he was 14 but to reward him for his good results at school, they have promised him another one in America, but Mia has never done one.
One day at lunch with Luca and their parents. Mia starts complaining about this.
Mia: What am I going to do this summer?
Emily: We can spend the summer together here, sweetheart. You can still go out with your friends.
Lucas: Of course
Mia: And what are YOU going to do this summer?
Lucas: Same. Except the two weeks that I II spend in America.
Mia: Does it seem to you fair enough?
Mat: We are rewarding him for doing well at school He deserves it.
Mia: Oh! And I don’t?
Emily: What are your marks at school?
Mia: I’ m trying my best!
Lucas: It doesn’t seem so.
Mia: I’m done!
After this Mat and Emily discuss trying to figure out a solution. They could afford just one study trip. They decide to reconsider the thing and enroll Mia and Lucas to a mediation course they have been informed about a few days ago. So, they turn to European Institute for Conflict Resolution, which is a non-profit organization.
Mia and Lucas agree with this After they have finished the sessions, they try to solve the situation with their parents.
Mia and Luca are in the car with their parents headed to their grandparents' house. Matt and Emily find this moment good to discuss together the pending issue of the summer trip.
Emily: So. Lucas and Mia, how did you find the course?'
Lucas: Initially it seemed like a waste of time. Then I enjoyed it a bit.
Mia: Yes, it was fine...
Matt: Why? What have you done that has made you change your mind?
Lucas: All those sessions of active listening. They were killing me!
Mia: Sure? You looked quite in those discussions. And I must say, we haven't been fighting so much in the last period like we usually do.
Lucas: Ok. sure, I admit, there was a sort of change. I appreciated it.
