What is Students For Innovation: Advocacy Day
Illinois educators and students are doing amazing, innovative things in the classroom every single day. At IDEA, our hope is to give these students and educators a platform to exemplify the importance of this innovative learning.
With this in mind, 30+ years ago, IDEA began hosting an annual one-day event at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield. Students from across the state are selected through an application process to present their innovative projects. Formally known as TECH 20xx, we have re-branded this event to better reflect its mission…
To amplify student voices by demonstrating innovative learning occurring in Illinois schools. These demonstrations will inspire legislatures and key stakeholders and highlight the importance of funding innovative practices that will drive life-long learning for both students and educators. Innovation takes funding, and is a critical component to our future.

3D World History Models

In the study of World History students were able to use three-dimensional design to create their own historic structures. From Egyptian tombs in the Valley of Kings to epic sea battles in Ancient Greece. Students are able to visualize history through 3D design.

Changemakers
Lake Forest Country Day School
Students studied global changemakers and co-created an artifact of their learning using PPT. Next, they devised a list of projects that enabled them to make a change at school and broke into small groups. They designed action item(s) and utilized technology in a variety of ways to complete their projects.

Creating Community Partnerships with Technology
Lake Forest Country Day School
Lake Forest Country Day School has utilized technology and mobile makerspaces to help develop partnerships with organizations such as Roberti Community House and North Chicago Community Partners. You will hear from students from LFCDS and other organizations about the impact of technology on developing powerful relationships.
