My Surprise Vacation in Paradise I sat there on the soft white sand and felt the warm evening sun shining down on my face, I was so happy to be in a calm environment. The sand I was sitting in was as soft as baking flour. I was thinking about how good it felt to be in a calm environment. I was staring at the waves breaking and then coming up on the shore, when I saw my brother trying to ride a huge wave. The sun was so bright shining on my skin. I got up and started running along the shoreline feeling freer than ever. Yep, this had quickly become my favorite beach on the vacation of a lifetime. My happy place. This is a trip I will look back on forever, and this is just the beginning of my experiences.
This is how it all started. Two days before we arrived at the airport, my parents asked us if we could miss a week of school and run away to Hawaii. “Yes, please” was my excited response! We got to the airport super early and flew from Salt Lake City, UT to Los Angeles, CA and then were able to get on a huge plane that holds about 500 people to fly to Honolulu, HI. After the plane landed and we were finally in Hawaii, we had to go pick up the rental car, which took about two very slow hours. I wasn't happy about that. We finally got a small white Ford (which in my family sands for “fix-or-repair-daily”). We drove off and were greeted by the beautiful green palm trees, all I could think of was how beautiful this place is!
“You have arrived at your destination,” Siri our phone companion stated. “YAY” my little brother Eli yelled in my ear. I looked up and was amazed by how many floors the hotel had. My dad checked us in and then drove us up the carport to the 3rd floor. He then unloaded the suitcases and shut the trunk. I grabbed my way-to-tiny-for-all-my-stuff black carry on suitcase and headed for the elevators. Our room was on floor 34. When we got out of the elevator and opened the door to our hotel room, we were shocked. It was the smallest hotel room all of us have ever seen. It did have lots of windows and an incredible view of the ocean though, so we decided it would be okay. We then put our stuff down and I went to bed while my brothers and dad went to the pool.
As the sun rose the next morning, I got out of the fresh smelling bed covers. I walked over to the bathroom and started getting ready. While I was putting on my golden brown eyeshadow my mom asked me “what do you want to do today?”. “I want to go tide pooling and find sea creatures,” I replied. “We can do that,” mom said. After a quick breakfast at the amazing and crowded hotel breakfast, we went loaded up our car and headed for the beach.
When we got to the beach I threw my flip flops off and ran for the rocks. The waves were too high to swim at the beach, but the tide was low, so the rocks were full of all kinds of sea creatures and I was so excited to see what animals were captured between the crevices of the huge lava rocks. My dad spotted some crabs crawling right next to where he was standing. Eli (my little brother) spotted some crayfish hiding in the crater of the rock. Someone else spotted little fish. I saw some anemones that almost stung my hand. Wow, have to watch out for those things.
