INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS A COCKROACH?
Cockroach is an insect. It has three body parts which are the head, thorax and abdomen. It has six legs. In this book, we are going to learn more about this amazing creatures!

Egg Stage
The cockroach egg casing is also known as ootheca.It protects the eggs and keep them safe.The ootheca is brown in colour. The ootheca can hold about 16 to 17 eggs.
The cockroach eggs takes about six to seven weeks to hatch. Sometimes to protect the babies, the mother cockroach will bury the ootheca in debris.

Nymph Stage
Nymph will shed its skin many times. It can moult up to eight times. Nymph looks like an adult cockroach and can move around. It does not have wings.The nymph is white in colour and has a soft white body. It loves munching on leftover food. The nymph phase last about one to three months before moving to the adult stage. The nymph will reach full adult size and colouration with its last moult.




Adult Stage














Before becoming an adult, the nymphs sheds several times . An adult cockroach is about 10 centimeters long . It has a pair of wings, three pairs of long legs and a long antennae on the front of its head.
Once the cockroach is in an adult stage, it will start to reproduce. This will start the cycle over again.
