Searching for Legends

There used to be small wooden street lamps here, but today there are tall metal street lamps.

The place near which we stand is a fountain. Near this fountain there is a theater. Every year in this square we have a Christmas Tree.

We visited Turgaus street which is located in the old town of Klaipeda. Construction of this street was completed in 1706 and it was reconstructed a few years ago. On Turgaus Street there are 8 cultural heritage sites included on the list of cultural values of the city of Klaipeda.

This building is located on the corner of the main street and Turgaus Street used to be a City Pharmacy, but now this place is a popular cafe.

In these pictures we can see coats of arms of Klaipeda city and of Debrecen city. They are friends.

This building is called a Palace of Fishermen's Culture. It is a Concert Hall and a Theatre.

In 1930 a rice mill was built on this site. There is a hotel now.

This is the largest fountain with wooden sculptures in Klaipeda. It has not changed much.

In the first picture you can see a Fountain with Swans, as it looked in the past. However, now this fountain is missing. There is only its base left.

For this photo, we visited the place of Klaipeda fish market that was destroyed during the First World War. People sold a lot of sea food and not only fish there.

Hello, Dear Partners! We want to show you some interesting places in our city Klaipeda!

First, we want to show you Birzos bridge in the old city of Klaipeda. This bridge can open if tall ships need to sail along the river.

In the past there was a large factory at this place. Now it is the biggest shopping centre called Aсropolis.

And this building was the first four-storey building in Klaipeda. Also, in picture of the past you can see a church. Now it does not exist.

For this photo, we visited the place of an Old Klaipeda market. Unfortunately, there is very little information about it, since it was destroyed during the Second World War. Now it is a Passage with cafes and small shops.

This is one of the most beautiful fountains in Klaipeda.

This building has rich history. It used to be the Bank of Lithuania and the printing house called "Morning" ("Rytas"). Nowadays this building is renovated and connected to another one.

Earlier there were many swamps in this area. Now they are drained and  "Helios gallery" is built instead of them. "Helios gallery" is a furniture and electronics store.

On this building there used to be a beautiful wooden decoration. Now there is an ad on this wall.

This place is very popular. People visit it quite often, since they can take a ferry to the Curonian Spit from there.
