You can use words like "or", "And" to combine terms or to filter out Unneeded information to narrow down you search.

core sources are the biggest chunk and most relevant pieces of information that will be used within your research. It's important to then have other resources that support your core sources to make for a stronger project.

Close Reading can help you "Read with Purpose". You work by identifying words or phrases that you know and don't know, then you find the main idea with supporting details that match it. The whole reason for this is to slow down and take in the information rather than only reading it one time and not working with the text.
