Food in Our Community: Location, Nutritional Value, & Accessibility!
Comic Panel 3
Dear Global Scholars,
We're introducing you to our community, Fort Lauderdale, Florida (USA). Our community has different food choices, like seafood, fast food, produce etc.
On this map you will find our local grocery stores and restaurants, as well as convenience stores that sell food. We will be telling you about the accessibility, affordability, the nutritious value, and security of food overall.
Availability: There are several places you can easily go in and out to get food. However, there are limits on the nutritious food available. Usually only one type of healthy food (like a salad) at the restaurants.
There are few places where you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables compared to processed goods.

Accessibility: Foods accessibility varies by types of food. You can access all foods if you have a car. There are bus stops in the community, but they are limited to major roads and a specific time schedule. There are not many bike lines, so riding a bicycle can be dangerous to travel to access foods.

Nutritional Accessibility: Nutritious food in our community is limited and usually costs more than the other food options. Some of the locations offer low cost but also low quality food. There are not a lot of nutritious food options for people from many different cultures or preferences, but you can possibly find certain ingredients.
