4th Class went on a fantastic virtual school tour around Ireland’s famous sites, The Eiffel Tower and Mars. Over 40 people travelled with Ms. Downey and Ms. Kelly, including pupils, their families and teachers.

Message from Miss O’Doherty To the Children:&nbsp;You have been working so hard and doing your best with the on-line learning as well as work posted out to your homes.&nbsp;Your teachers have been checking in with me every week and letting me know how you were getting along.&nbsp;I am so proud of you all. It is not easy to try and do school-work at home every day but you did it!&nbsp;Well done!&nbsp;It is strange for all of us. I have been working in the school and it feels so strange and lonely without the wonderful sounds of boy and girls laughing and talking.&nbsp;&nbsp;I missed you all so much and I look forward to seeing how much you will have grown.&nbsp;I’m looking forward to August 27th when we all meet again.&nbsp;I am sending you a big hug right now!

Green Schools On Wednesday 17th June we received the news that we had received our 7th Green School's Flag!!!! We have received our flag for 'Global Citizenship: Energy'. This is our seventh flag!! Well done to all the hard-working members of our Green- schools committee and thank you to everyone in the school who took part and helped us reach our goal!!

On 12th March 2020, schools around the country closed due to Covid-19. In Gardiner Street Primary School, we set about trying to reach our students to continue their learning and engagement. On Monday 30th March our online platform 'Google Classroom' went live. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your hard work over the past few months. Parents and guardians have done a brilliant job of keeping everything going since we closed our doors on the 12th of March. We have seen wonderful work taking place on our online classrooms and the level of engagement and amount of hard work complete is evident across the whole school community.

Great news! On Monday 15th June we received the news that Gardiner Street Primary School has received it's Blue Star Flag for the year 2019/2020! Well done to everyone for all of your hard work!

Message from Miss O’Doherty To the Teachers:&nbsp;Thank you for the huge effort you have made to continue the work of the school-year.&nbsp;You overcame so many obstacles and worked long hours until you managed it.&nbsp;I know some of you (like me!) had to learn how to use ZOOM, how to “share screens”, how to upload lessons etc.&nbsp;Thanks to Ms. Egan and Ms. Cox for setting up the on-line platform and to Ellie who organised the lunches.&nbsp;I am tremendously grateful for the constant contact you kept with the children, the support you gave families and the most amazing on-line lessons imaginable.&nbsp;&nbsp;All of this was done from your homes.&nbsp;A super job!&nbsp;I must acknowledge and congratulate the new teachers for the way they handled the last few months.&nbsp;What a way to begin your teaching career!&nbsp;

Message from Miss O’Doherty To our Parents/ Guardians:&nbsp;I appreciate your support for the teachers and the wonderful work you accomplished with the children.&nbsp;I can only imagine how difficult it has been for you all.&nbsp;&nbsp;We look forward to getting back to a “new normal” in August.&nbsp;On behalf of the whole staff I assure you that the return to school will be safe.&nbsp;We are awaiting final guidelines from the Department of Education but we are planning and hoping to be back on the 27th of August.&nbsp;We will be depending on you to help us to keep our school COVID-FREE and to have the children in school every day. &nbsp;Have a wonderful summer and keep safe,&nbsp; Eileen O’Doherty Principal&nbsp;
