A "Perry" Good Podcast

A "Perry Podcast" is a podcast made to appreciate our teachers and staff for helping us and just being so nice and amazing!

From the Editor in Chief...

This week is the pioneer variety show, and we will get to see some awesome talent! It will be fun for all of us, whether in the audience, or onstage! So put on those party clothes and get talenting! We hope to see you there!

1. how do you like your class? I LOVE my class.
2. how do you like your students? The students all have great attitudes – which makes teaching and learning with them a joy. They are always willing to help each other, so it’s a nice feeling of cooperation in our classroom all day. This group of students work VERY hard at reading, writing, and math…but we also do many fun learning activities, such as square dancing and readers’ theater plays.
3. what do you think of Pioneer would you instead teach at a different school? I LOVE teaching at Pioneer. I started my California teaching career at this school in 1989 – that’s 32 school years ago! I have taught at a few different schools in our district, but teaching 3rd grade at Pioneer has been my favorite assignment.
4. do you still like to wear your mask or do you take it off? I DO wear my mask while I am at school and when I go indoors places like the grocery store. I have a family member who should not get sick, some wearing my mask helps prevent spreading germs.
5. do you like the mask option? I understand that people have different choices now, so I’m comfortable with that. I sure will be happy when we don’t have to worry about this virus anymore!

Hello, it's me SammyD back with another interview for you! This time I will be interviewing Mr.Fingerman. The first question I asked him was: what inspired you to become a 3rd-grade teacher? He said he actually used to teach 4rth-grade but when his two fellow teachers Ms.Snyder and Ms.West retired, he decide it was time to teach a different grade. My next question was: do you enjoy being a 3rd-grade teacher? He said he enjoys all the grades he taught, but especially 3rd-grade because the students get to learn lots of new things in math and writing and also start reading advanced books. The next question I asked him was: what is one way you could be better respected at Pioneer? He said he never really felt disrespected at Pioneer but getting to know people early on such as yard duties and little buddies teaches the students better respect. Then I asked him what his favorite part of Pioneer was. He loves how we all work together as one. Let's go, Pioneer! The last question I asked him was: what was his favorite thing to do at home. He said he loves to cook whatever he possibly can. He also has a big, cool, pizza oven in his backyard and is learning to master the technique of pizza. That concludes my interview. Thank you Mr.Fingerman for all you do and just for everything!

If I wasn’t a teacher, I would love to be a scientist researching coral.

My favorite hobbies are hiking in Marin or going to listen to concerts.

Asking me about my favorite book is a tough question because I adore reading. I love nonfiction books and historical fiction the most. Some books I love I read repeatedly.

Books I love to share with my students include A Family of Poems a collection of poems for children edited by Caroline Kennedy or Camille and the Sunflowers by Laurence Anholt.

NAYEEL: How long have you been working at Pioneer?
MS. STANO: I have been working at Pioneer for 6 years!
NAYEEL: Wow! That's a long time. What is your favorite part of working at Pioneer?
MS. STANO: My favorite part of working at Pioneer is how all of the students work and grow and I am also very proud of the student ambassador program.
NAYEEL: What is your favorite food?
Ms. Stano: My favorite food is Thai food!
NAYEEL: What is your favorite drink?
Ms.Stano: My favorite drink is sparkling lime water.
NAYEEL: What do you like to do in your free time?
MS. STANO: I love to watch my cockatiel birds that just hatched. I have 4 baby birds and love to watch them grow, also I love to travel with my family. I have a big camping trip up the west coast this summer.

Mr.Tealdi is a super nice and kind teacher and I will be asking him some questions. So let's get to it! I asked him what is your favorite animal? And he responded with a dog. He has a golden retriever and a golden doodle. wow! A lot of golden pets! Then, I asked him where is your favorite place to go? And he said a beach in Australia. Next, I asked him if you were not a teacher what would you be? He responded with either an artisan gelato master, or an animal keeper at the zoo. Then I asked him what is your favorite planet that's not Earth, and he said Saturn because he loves the rings. Then I asked him what is your favorite invertebrate and he said a jellyfish. I asked him what is your favorite hobby and he said playing the piano or going to the movies. then I asked him what is your favorite color and he said purple. Next, I asked him if you had any wish what would it be and he said he would want to fly. Then I asked him what is your favorite type of weather and he said when its sunny, but not too hot. I asked him what is your favorite fruit and he said blackberries and raspberries. I asked him what is your favorite type of plant and he said a plant called the Bird of Paradise. and last, I asked him what is your favorite secondary color and he said his favorite color purple.THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Hello, prairie dogs! I am Nathalia Lee. I interviewed Ms. Chang. She is also my teacher! I asked her a couple of questions, and these are Ms. Chang's answers:

I asked about her favorite dessert. She answered Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake. I also asked, "What are your hobbies"? Ms. Chang said she likes to read, go shopping, and play with her kids. I asked, "Who is the cook of the house"? She replied that she is. Her FAVORITE food is noodles! What is her LEAST favorite animal? Birds! What IS her favorite animal? A tiger! She said it's because she was born in the year of the tiger on the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. Cool right? Those are your answers to those questions.

Recess News

9-square in the air? More like 9-square we-don't-care! The 9-square poles have been damaged so much that the game was declared off-limits! Many people think that was a direct result of people hanging on the poles, but there are some disputing opinions. The poles have been restored, but there is speculation about whether or not they will remain. The Pioneer Weekly would like to ask everyone to avoid meddling with, hanging on, or disturbing the poles in any way in the future. The origins of the pole's damage are unknown but we have gathered some opinions from the Pioneer Weekly crew. Check out how 3 people responded when asked why they think the poles have been damaged!

Nine Square Bust?

Opinions:

I think the nine square poles were damaged because people were hanging on them. The weight of the people snapped or broke the poles causing the game to be shut down.

Events at Pioneer

Dog Dash!

State Testing has started

Starts at May, 3, 2022

This week is the second week of state testing for grades 3-6!
You're doing awesome and keep up the good work! Pioneer believes in you!

Next week is the Dog Dash, so get ready to slip on your shoes and run those laps. You can ask your family and friends for fundraising money but it is not required. So have some fun and a perry good day!

All participants will receive participation prizes!
Students raising $50 or more will receive a Dog Dash T-shirt! The class that raises the most money will get a Kona Ice Party! Don't forget if you run and you didn't donate that's ok because you will still get participation prizes.
