A "Perry Podcast" is a podcast made to appreciate our teachers and staff for helping us and just being so nice and amazing!

Have you seen the signs that the 6th graders put up around our school? They have advice about things like washing your hands, being hydrated and staying exercised. Try to follow these as best as you can.

This Week's Big Question Is: Do You Think The Pioneer Weekly Should Add Origami?

Some pros are that origami is fun and creative, and it's pretty cool when you finish one. You don't have to follow instructions also!

But the cons are that it would take a lot of people to to get a good opinion on if we should or we shouldn't so vote right prary dogs!

Who keeps our school going when everything's about to fall apart? The office managers! Every day they work so hard for us, yet there is no "Thank you office managers!" poster, no office manager appreciation day! The Pioneer weekly has realized this, and

we are doing a special issue for the office workers. In honor of that, we have been interviewing the office workers, in hopes of exposing the school to more of these amazing people.

Like Ms. Juli Chang said, "They basically keep us afloat." Ms. Tiffany Yost, a sub for Ms. Odie, was among the interviewed staff. Upon being asked "What inspired you to become an office manager?" She answered almost hesitantly, " Ahh... so I am not quite an office manager... I am just an assistant secretary... What inspired me was that I do really well with computers and office equipment and organization. " When that question was followed with "What do you like to do when you're not working?". She answered much more enthusiastically "Oh... I love to do puzzles and I like to tie-dye and I play video games on my phone like candy crush."

Another question that was definitely her favorite was "What do you like about your job?". Her almost immediate answer was "I really like my job! I like being at the school because I get to be with kids and so I get the best of both worlds, where I still help out kids and I'm still in the office organizing." The final question was "What would you have done if you hadn't become an office manager?" Her answer required thought, but she eventually said "I probably would have helped another...non-profit like an environmental one.". Our interview with Ms. Yost helped us see how much we really don't know about the people who are there every day-the office managers!

Kaho and Nesiah: How long have you been working here?
Ms. Jennifer: I've been working here for 3 years.

Kaho and Nesiah: If you had to teach a grade, what would it be?
Ms. Jennifer: I don't really want to teach a grade and instead want to be a math specialist or a reading specialist.

Kaho and Nesiah: What is your favorite thing to do after work?
Ms. Jennifer: I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, watching my daughter's softball games and reading.

Kaho and Nesiah: What is your favorite spirit day?
Ms. Jennifer: My favorite spirit day was pajama day.

Ms. Benge

I interviewed Ms.Benge and asked some questions.

1. When did you join our Pioneer community?
She said she joined the Pioneer community in August of 2019.

2. The next question I asked her was what is her favorite food?
She said she's not that picky, but she favors Mexican and Italian food.

3. What do you like doing most?
She really enjoys genealogy (jee-nee-olojee).
She has learned a lot about her family, where some of them came from, how they arrived in the United States, places they have lived, and relatives she never knew she had throughout the world.

4. What is your favorite part of our school?
Her favorite part of school is taking care of the students that come in with injuries or are ill and I hope that when they leave, they are feeling a little bit better.

I interviewed Ms. Gibson.

She loves Blokus, its her favorite game.

She has worked as a nurse at Pioneer for 5 years. That's pretty long!

She has worked at UCD for eight years. That's 13 years as a nurse!!

She became a nurse because she was interested in helping people, biology, and science.

When you're a nurse in a hospital you work with surgeon and doctors. I learned it was OK to ask questions.

Recess News

The Grass Cult

There has been people who are joining a cult called "Grass Cult" they will gather dead grass and will put the dead grass into a small ditch, adding more and more dead grass to create a larger pile. The members of this cult create many threatening drawings, warning others not to destroy their beloved grass pile. Their messages may be similar to "Don't destroy the grass pile, or you'll get it", along with a drawing of you in a grave. Right now, the grass pile is destroyed, but the grass pile could be rebuilt. Do you think the grass pile should be rebuilt?

Last week, infinity tag was the best thing at recess and everyone was playing it, but now it seems like less and less people are playing. There are still a fair amount of people sticking with it, but the number of people playing grow less and less each day.

Easter is a holiday in April, where kids get gift baskets and get eggs filled with candy from the Easter bunny. Originally it celebrated the resurrection of Jesus and was also known as Resurrection Sunday or Pascha. It concludes the “Passion of Christ,” a series of holidays that begins with Lent.

Passover April 15-23
Passover (also known as Pesach) is a Jewish holiday celebrating the freeing of Jews from Egypt. Families celebrate Passover by having a special dinner called a Seder, where families eat special foods, kids hide Matzoh for their families, and sing songs and say prayers.
