A typical remote learning day for a student

Batın I get up at 8:00 a.m. I have breakfast and then I prepare my materials for online lessons. At 9:10 a.m, I attend the first lesson. We have seven classes a day. After 13:00 p.m. I do my homework and send it to my teachers. I am always at home. I rarely go out. I sometimes meet my classmates via Zoom.

İmran I always get up early. After breakfast, I join my online lessons. I feel tired and sleepy after online lessons. I sometimes sleep after the lessons. I do my homework in the afternoon and send it back to my teachers. I really don't like remote learning.

We have online lessons on EBA. It is a national education website. We can have online lessons, share ideas, discuss with schoolmates, do exercises on all subjects on EBA. It is a wonderful educative tool.

Students, who can't go to school and who don't have an internet connection at home, watch EBA TV. There are three EBA TV Channels; EBA TV Primary School, EBA TV Middle School, and EBA TV High School.

Our teachers can open a separate group for her/his class. S/he can send homework on it. We upload our homework on these groups after we finish.

The ministry of education integrated Zoom into EBA. When we have connection problems on EBA, we can join lessons via Zoom.

A typical remote teaching day for a teacher

I get up at 7 a.m.After I have breakfast with my family, I get ready for online lessons. I usually have five classes a day; however, I sometimes have seven classes a day. When I have a class with my project students, we talk and discuss the topic of that day. We do online exercises together. They enjoy having online English games. After I have lunch, I send homework to my students through WhatsApp or EBA. I give them feedback after checking all homework. Actually, here in Turkey, schools have been opened. Now I have both online lessons and face-to-face lessons. I sometimes forget what to do because of this confusing weekly program.

Miray : Once I was chatting with my friends during the lesson. I accidentally sent the message to my teacher. She got angry at me.

İmran: I forgot my microphone on. the whole class heard our fight with my brother.

A.Emin: While I was playing online games during the online lesson, my mom came in and got angry at me. She doesn't let me use her mobile phone anymore.

Batın: I like eating during the live class.Because my camera is always off.

Adil Emin I am a 6th-grade student. I actually like remote learning. Because I don't have to wake up early and walk to school. I wake up whenever I want. I usually do my homework after online lessons. I play computer games and chat with my classmates in online meetings. I can sleep late. I can do what I want all day.

NİSANUR I wake up at half-past eight. I have breakfast. I attend online lessons at ten past nine. All lessons are over at 1 p.m. I have lunch and then I do my homework. If I don't have any homework, I watch a movie or read a book. I prefer face-to-face education.

On the 11th March 2020, the Turkish government announced the first corona case. They decided to close schools for two weeks on the same day. But schools remained closed for nearly a year. Finally, on the 15th February 2021, schools were opened for all grades. From May 2020 until 1st March 2021, we received distance education. We had online lessons on EBA, EBA TV, and Zoom. At the beginning of remote learning, we had some problems such as not having internet at home or not having a technological device. It was a long, interesting, and chaotic year.
