Thank you to our Friends of Connor Downs Academy who have continued to support us with their wonderful fundraising efforts and successful bids. This term, brand new windows were fitted to Year 4 and Year 6 thanks to the tremendous support from the Friends.

I hope that you all enjoy the festive break with your families and friends and that you have time to relax in each other’s company. I look forward to welcoming you back to school in 2021.

As we reach the end of the year, we can all reflect upon the last 12 months.  The Covid-19 crisis brought many challenges, which have affected every household.  Although Connor Downs Academy remains open, the restrictions on events and social distancing measures have prevented us from holding events. We therefore depend even more upon grants and donations, to enable us to provide extra resources.

We were extremely pleased to secure funding to replace the windows in Year 4 and Year 6 classrooms. The children and staff can now enjoy a warm and dry learning environment. We are incredibly grateful to Gwinear-Gwithian Sustainable Community Fund for their support.

Within our own family bubbles, many of us took part in the sponsored Welly Walk. Although the weekend was a little wet, this did not dampen the spirits of the children, and a total of £565 was raised. Thank you to everyone who took part and especially the parent who was the inspiration behind this event.

The children in Reception class will soon be receiving an exciting range of ‘Letters and Sound’ decodable home reading books, following a successful grant from Gwinear-Gwithian Parish Council.
