Computing - Autumn 1 - Computing systems and networks
Communication and Collaboration
Vocabulary:
Protocols are like rules. They are an agreed way of doing something.
Computers communicate using agreed protocols.
Packets - 1) Header - (envelope) who is it too? Data payload - the message sent (text, audio, video...)
Task 1 - identifying and reworking a packet sent.
Task 2 - Communicating without speaking (using the internet to collaborate).
Task 3 - Communicating effectively and responsibly.
The language was tricky (headers and data payloads) but we linked it to things we know (envelope and the message) which helped us.
We were given strips (packets) of information and had to act like the network and device to put the image back together again!
Speech Bubble
Autumn 1 assessment quiz...
Speech Bubble
We discussed that a computing packet is like an envelope and the letter is the data payload!
Year 6 Oak Class 2022-2023
Computing - Autumn 2 - Creating Media - 3D modelling

Zooming, pinching, rotating, work plane, different perspectives, lifting and lowering.
Step 1:
Getting used to the controls and creating stacking objects.
Can you create objects with holes inside them?
Year 6 Oak Class 2022-2023
Computing - Summer 1 - Spreadsheets
Vocabulary:
Data, collecting, table, structure,
spreadsheet, formula, cell, duplicate, graph, interpret,
Chart, evaluate, results, comparison,
questions, software, tools, data
How can I create a formula?
Is it easy to debug in Sheets?
Thought Bubble
Lots of jobs require spreadsheets. From shops - checking and ordering stock to banks to keep track of money to schools (check data)
Speech Bubble
We used formulas in a spreadsheet to plan a party.
Some of us kept forgetting to put = at the beginning (so the formula didn't work).
Then we linked spreadsheets to our Science - creating a spreadsheet and graph to show the effect of exercise and our beats per minute (bpm).
