This part of Inhabitants mostly consists of native Americans, or people that migrated to the country during
the past centuries. Almost all black people for example are descendants of Africans, which were protracted and held captive as slaves.

Black History
Colonial Past
America had its indigenous people, but most of its modern population comes from the colonists who settled the land since its discovery in 1492. Previously mentioned natives were oppressed and partly wiped out by the colonists in the following centuries. Today, only less than 0.2% of American citizens are descendants of the actual natives.

enslaving natives
(circa 1587)
The slave trade was a simple business: valuable goods such as mirrors, guns and spirits were shipped from Europe to Africa. Once in Africa, these were exchanged for freshly captured slaves, who were then shipped to America to work mainly on plantations. Parts of the proceeds of this plantation work were then processed locally, or went back to Europe. This whole construct is called "the triangular trade".
