Cardboard Arcade is when everyone from  cardboard challenge shows us the game they have created. We can also play it only if we have a fun pass. Also,you can win prizes!!Everyone always has so much fun playing the games !!

In Forensic Fever you get to learn about crime solving (after you learn about the basics of forensic science, of course!). The techniques consist of the following: evidence processing, fingerprinting, fiber hair analysis, Handwriting, and many other cool techniques. Students will have to use critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and teamwork to solve a murder mystery. Can you become a master detective?

Have a lot on your mind ? Then say yes to yoga. Yoga's propose is to teach people how to use your breath to calm your mind. Yoga is a great way to calm your self down, relax, and clear your mind.

In Have a Blast students get to take on the challenge to make different types of rockets out of soda bottles. The students can change the number and size of fins, the size and sharpness of the tip, and the total amount of mass placed in the ship. Then, after the building of the rockets is done, the students will have a competition to see which one of their rockets will fly the highest and the farthest. We hope that the students in Have a Blast had blast!

In DECATS Daily students can show their writing talents while writing about the exciting things going on in the DECATS 2019 summer program. Students will get in groups (usually of 2 or 3) and travel through the school taking pictures and interviewing teachers and students through various classes. After the interviewing the students would type information and take pictures on the classes that they have been assigned to by the teacher. Then, after the writing and pictures are all complete, the yearbook would be sent to all of the parents of the DECATS scholars. Try out DECATS Daily, it is very fun (and it gives you special privileges to walk around the school) and a very good class. 

Our argument is the best! No ours is! Debate is a great thing to do in your free time and with your friends. It raises the competitive factor within people. In this class, you debate statements that you agree or disagree with. You can argue many statements such as: homework should be banned, our cars should be electric powered soon, video games are better than books. So if you ever have a difference of opinion, start debating.

In I Can Code... students learn about the computer art of coding, and how it can help them become successful in the future (because knowing how to use computers is almost essential in everyday life nowadays). Students learn how to code through lessons on a coding website, and everyday they get to solve a puzzle that is written on the board, and they also get to solve the question of the day (a question that asks a new thing about them daily). I Can Code... shows the fun of coding and of computers, and I hope you will keep it in mind for next year.

Each year, Jr. DECATS scholars work together to raise money or complete service for someone in need. This year we are raising money and putting together care packages to send to the tornado and flood victims in Oklahoma through Catholic Charities.

Advanced Drawing is a class where you learn to draw better . Mr. Ahern teaches this class . You will draw many things in class including a more detailed human . Emma said she chose this class because she wanted to draw better . Averi said it is very fun and Mr. Ahern is super funny . She also said that drawing Ginger the evildog was her favorite part. Also, she said that the vanishing point and shading are helpful.

Do you love food and science? Then this is the class for you! In this class you do expirements that involve food and science. You make lemonade and even chocolate chip pancakes!! Kassandra said she chose this class because she likes to do expirements. Olwyn said she chose this class because she likes to eat and do expirements to. Come to Edible Science!

Are you proud to show off your school? On Tuesday 6/11, students from different schools came to DECATS dressed up as their mascot, shirts, and colors to show to the world! They represented their schools by wearing their school colors. Mrs. Scheffield’s Amazing Technicolor Hair Salon was open for business, giving scholars the opportunity to show off their school colors in their hair!

Fabulous Fabric Fun is one of the best classes ever ! You get to make masterpieces out fabric glue and if you want glitter

Flag Day is a day where you can wear red, white, or blue. You can also go to the Technicolor Hair Salon to get your hair dyed either red, white, or blue.

Do you want to learn how to sing, act, audition, and perform? Then this is the perfect class for you! In this class you will perform a musical called Sister Act!! You will sing in this play , so if you love to sing then come to this class . You will also act but remember,you have to audition for the part you want! Many kids enjoy this class . Come to Sister Act!

Have you ever wanted to dye your hair? If you want to , then go to the Technicolor Hair Salon! You can pick any color you imagine. Just tell the staff what colors you want and boom!! Your hair will be the way you want it !!

This year in History Alive, students got to explore the Civil War. They learned what conditions were like in the trenches, how people made candles, and they even enjoyed some fun and games from the 1860s. They also learned about the important people and events and made a living wax museum for others to learn more too.

Are you super creative when it comes to cardboard boxes? If you are then go on over to Cardboard  Challenge! In this class you will create a game out of cardboard boxes and then bring it to the Cardboard Arcade. Lily and Sofia love this class because they can be creative . Go to Cardboard Challenge and get creative!!

In #STEAMTeam students will create projects displaying their creativity using their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The class was made to show how important it is for students to learn about these subjects. some projects that the students will make include the following: catapults, solar ovens, windmills, brushbots, and many more. In #STEAMTeam, students will also learn about basic 3D printing techniques. #STEAMTeam is a blast and you should try it out.

In Let's Play Games students will play games involving athleticism and music. The students will play games such as "Rhythm Basketball," "Melody Baseball," and Olympic Games to show off their skills in both categories. These games will help students with coordination skills with movements, patterns, musical concepts, and much more. In Let's Play Games students learn how athleticism and music work well together. We hope you will be interested in learning how these two concepts work well together by taking Let's Play Games next year.

In watercolors you learn water color techniques that watercolorists have used for centuries. The kids in that class learn everything that grown- ups can.

We are very thankful for the DeBusk Foundation for making Jr DECATS Dallas possible. We wouldn't have the opportunity to explore our gifts and talents through all these wonderful classes without them!

Summer Fun(shine) is a class where you can be creative with the crafts. You do activities such as painting, tye dying and so much more!! This class is definently a class to let your creativity out.You also make can cars . Come to Summer Fun(shine) and let your creativity out!!!

on pray it forward day we have fun while doing service. Like a dance off and making snack bags or doing a minute to win it while someone else is making prayer cards.

Perspectives Year Oh, the Places You'll Go

Ever wanted to make stop motion? Or how about Green Screen? in stop collaborate and create you can do that.

How much for gas? What about snacks? In math road trip you can use math to go on a fun road trip 

Great prices! Great products! As I said about We Mean Busine$$ you get to sell your products on set days (usually one group gets Monday and Wednesday, while the other gets Tuesday and Thursday), but I never got into too much details, so here I go! The groups get to go to the auditorium early to eat lunch whilst setting up their businesses. When the others come into the cafeteria to eat their lunches, they have the opportunity to go and take a look at, and maybe buy, the products that are for sale. All of the sales and profits were donated to the Kids Helping Kids Campaign.

In We Mean Busine$$, groups (usually consisting of about four to five people) make products to sell during lunch periods on two days per week. The students will also make flyers and a business sign consisting of what the groups sell and their prices for said items (usually the items are $1 or below, but there are exceptions). After the selling is all said and done, the students will donate the money that they made to Kids Helping Kids (a charity to give back to children that lost their belongings in the flood in Tulsa, Oklahoma).

We wanted to thank all of the staff for being able to come and help this year at DECATS. The DECATS 2019 summer program (and DECATS in general) would be different in a massive (and negative) way if you were not here. So we, the students of DECATS, would like to thank each and every one of you for being able to come and help the kids at the summer program this year. We just wanted to let you know that we all appreciate each and every one of you guys, and that this wouldn't be the same without you. Thank you for another great year of DECATS!

Perspectives Year 1 Oh, the Thinks You Can Think

Keep calm and draw cartoons! In cartooning you can draw famous cartoon characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Micky Mouse. Mr. Ahern says the reason he chose to teach this class is because, "I liked cartooning my whole life and  if i can share something with young students then that's what God intended me to do." The kids said they chose to have this class is because they get to draw and express their self in art. 

#Space squad is all about space. So you learn about black holes, stars, telescopes,and much more.you do fun activities to help you learn more about space.Like making constellations and satellites.

Perspectives Year 3 How Lucky You Are

movie night is a class where you get to make your own movie with the people in the class. ava said she chose this class because she loves to act and make movies. Her favorite part about this class is getting to be in the movie. I would choose this class if you love to act and make movies.&#160;

Hand building with clay is a class to make fun things and to be creative. This is the third class period for the students that chose to do this class. There are a lot of steps to this fun class. Most of the students in this class enjoy it because they can be creative. They can invent stuff with the clay.

On Go Bananas Day, students come to DECATS wearing either a yellow shirt, or a banana costume. We had a great snack of bananas,wafers, and milk. It was very popular and enjoyed. Then during JDTV (to learn more about it go to page 90-91) people go to do a banana costume fashion show (which can be very fun... and maybe cringy as well, but still very fun).

In this class you research a mystery that hasn't been solved and do a project on it. This class is for you if you like to solve mysteries . Maddie said she chose this class because she thought it would be cool to solve mysteries.

In JDTV students have the chance to go around the school and interview various students as they take their classes during 2nd period. They will take videos on their iPad. Usually 1 person will interview while there are 2 (or more) people manning the camera . In JDTV the students take turns being the interviewer; cameramen, or camerawomen; and newscasters. The videos will (on most days) be shown during the break after third period (there are exceptions though).

In DECATS 911, you learn so many things. You learn about the body parts like the heart and so much more !! You also learn CPR, the Heimlich Manuever,and how to stitch.You will learn about allergic reactions and what to do in emergencies. Also , you will see various professional roles you can be when you grow up and you will make a First Aid Kit that you can take home.Come learn how to save a life!

Fiefs and manors. Castles and peasants. In this class, you learn how to build castles and what their styles look like. You get to watch The Quest for Camelot in this class. This class learned about the feudal system and how it worked. They learned how knights fought in the Middle Ages. They were assigned to feudal ranks in their classes. Eventually, it came down to building a great castle for about half the time at DECATS as a huge project. So if you are ever wanting to find the Holy Grail, come visit this class!

Team I.C.E. (Imagine. CREATE. Explore.), is a class in which students will take on 3 different tasks. They will design 3D projects that will challenge their creativity skills, math skills, and their 3D printing skills. They will also create their own obstacle courses, treehouses, and foodtrucks. Team I.C.E. is very fun and you have a great time in this class.

On Pajama Day , everyone wears their pajamas to Decats!! Many kids love pajama day because they can come super cozy to Decats. You can even wear a onesie! Everyone always has so much fun on pajama day.

If you dislike doing your chores and want someone else to do it, then take Robotics. This is a class where anything could go wrong, but when you do it right, all your hard work and fails really pays off. You start out by learning how to move your robot from one place to another. Then you learn how to program it to pick things up. Then you learn how to build cranes and dogs. Using these skills, you could freestyle at home and build a robot for your chores. It also pays off when you start engineering.
