Explanation text adalah salah satu teks dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan proses terjadinya sesuatu secara detail.
Tentang bagaimana sesuatu bekerja atau mengapa terjadi. Pada umumnya, teks eksplanasi membahas tentang fenomena alam, sosial ataupun fenomena budaya.
Dalam explanation terdapat berbagai macam unsur, mulai dari struktur, fungsi sosial, fitur bahasa, dan masih banyak lagi unsur lainnya.
